Overview

The National Testing Agency will conduct the NEET 2026 exam on May 3 online as a Computer-Based Test(CBT). The NTA will release the NEET 2026 result within a month from the exam. After the result is published, the participating medical Institutions and the State-wise Counselling will start as per the guidelines issued by the Medical Counselling Committee and the National Medical Commission. The NTA will release the NEET scorecard to the eligible candidates and notify the Counselling bodies nationwide about the details of candidates who qualified in the NEET 2026 exam.

After receiving the information of the candidates, the Medical Colleges start the registrations for the NEET Counselling and prepare the cutoff for their college. The candidates who score better than the college cutoff will be called for the counselling.

West Bengal NEET Counselling 2026: Types of Domicile

As per the guidelines issued by the MCC and NMC, to claim the domicile of a state, the candidates must have been residing in a state from past ten years. In case of the West Bengal, the applicant should have a domicile of the State. During the registration process, a candidate needs to choose from three options:

The Candidates who have been residing in West Bengal state for the past ten years (or more) as prescribed by rules of MCC should fill Proforma a1.

The applicants who have resided in West Bengal for the past ten years (or more) as prescribed by the rules of MCC. They must also have passed the class 12 examination in 2025 or before should fill the Proforma a2.

Outside Candidates who are not residing in West Bengal, but one of their parents is a permanent resident of West Bengal and has a permanent address in West Bengal should fill the Proforma b.

WB Domicile Certificate Authorisation

For a domicile certificate to be valid, it needs to be signed by any of the following authorities:

  • District Magistrate/ Additional District Magistrate/ Deputy Magistrate/ Deputy Collector/ Sub Divisional Officer/ Block Development Officer
  • Superintendent of Police/ Additional Superintendent of Police/ Deputy Superintendent of Police/ Sub Divisional Police Officer
  • Commissioner/ Additional Commissioner/ Joint Commissioner/ Deputy Commissioner/ Assistant Commissioner of Police of Commissioner
  • Judicial Magistrate (any rank/ position) in the concerned District Court/ Kolkata High Court/ Supreme Court of India
  • Cooperation Area: Commissioner/ Additional Commissioner/ Joint Commissioner/ Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner
  • Assistant Security or above in the Secretariat of the Government of West Bengal (including GTA) or the Central Government
  • Deputy Director or above in the Directorate of the Government of West Bengal/ Central Government

What is the process of West Bengal NEET counselling 2026?

West Bengal NEET PG admission 2026 will start with registration. It can be done on the official website. Check the process of West Bengal NEET counselling 2026 given below:

  • Candidates have to register on the official website, wbmcc.nic.in
  • Selecting “New Registration”, they will be able to fill out the application form and create a profile for West Bengal NEET 2026 counselling

Step 2: Document verification

Verification of documents is essential to participate in the counselling of West Bengal NEET 2026. Candidates must report to the verification centres with their original certificates. A candidate will be eligible to participate in West Bengal NEET counselling only after their documents have been successfully verified.

Step 3: Choice filling

After the verification process is done, the choice-filling process will proceed. This is also an online process, and the candidate will have to log in to the registered account to complete it. They can choose as many colleges/ courses as they want. WBMCC will announce dates for choice declaration for round-1 West Bengal NEET counselling. Candidates can download last year's allotment list based on their particular rank in the link given below. This will help them declare their choices of college and course accordingly.

Step 4: List of Seats Allotted
Before the start of each round, the WBMCC will publish a seat allotment list. The allocation will be done as per the list of choices filled by the candidates and the rank secured by the candidates. The seat allotment list of West Bengal shall contain the following particulars:-
Current Round of West Bengal NEET counselling. All India Rank secured in NEET 2026. Choice number. Name of the allotted institute. Course allotted. The category in which the seat was allotted. Category of the candidates. Status of the allotment (Retained/ Upgraded/ Fresh allotment/ Not upgraded).
Step 5: Reporting to the institute
Candidates who have been allotted a seat in the counselling of West Bengal NEET 2026 have to report to the allotted institute for confirmation of admission. On failing to report to the institute, the candidature of the candidate will be forfeited.
