NIFT Chennai Admission Process 2025
Students must appear for the NIFT entrance exam to get a seat in the desired programme. The admission process involves application form, entrance test, result declaration, counselling and seat allotment. Interested students can follow the step-by-step admission process explained below:
Application Process
Students who fulfil the course-specific eligibility criteria can fill the application form through the official website.
Appear for the Entrance Exam
The students have to appear for the NIFT Entrance Exam. This entrance test is conducted in two parts: written exams and situation tests/ personal interviews. Moreover, the written exam is conducted in online mode. The situation test is in offline mode. The personal interview is in online mode.
Release of Cutoff List
After the selection rounds, the institute releases the cutoff list. The NIFT Chennai cutoff marks vary from one course to another.
NIFT Counselling
Students with a score equal to or more than the cutoff marks become eligible for counselling. During counselling, a seat allotment procedure is carried out. The complete schedule is available on the official website.
Document Verification & Payment of Fees

Seat Reservation 2025

AS per the NIFT's official website, the written tests for the NIFT 2024 exam will be held tentatively in the 1st week of February 2024. The written tests comprise a General Ability Test (GAT) and a Creative Ability Test (CAT). GAT is mandatory for all candidates, but CAT is only required for B. Des and M. Des candidates.
The GAT test will be considered in a computer-based mode, whereas the CAT will be offline based. Note that scores of the written exams will be used to shortlist candidates for a Situation Test/ Personal Interview.
