NIFT Chennai Admission 2025: Eligibility, Selection Process & Last Date

NIFT Chennai cutoff 2025 has been released for different categories of students belonging to the General AI quota. Considering the Round 1 cutoff, the closing ranks for General AI category students varied between 130 and 1420. The most sought-after course for admission with the lowest cutoff rank of 130 was Master of Fashion Management (MFM). For other courses and specialisations, the cutoff ranks are tabulated below:

The fees for BDes at NIFT Chennai is around INR 6.1lakh - INR 12.3 lakh. The mentioned fee is only the tuition fee. The BDes fee aslo includes other one time fees, which candidates have to pay during admission. Also there is the NIFT entrance exam fee i.e. NIFT 2024 application fee is INR 3000. NIFT Chennai admission 2026 is currently open for various courses. The application process at National Institute of Fashion Technology Chennai is conducted online. Students can check the list of documents required for admission below:

Admission to BDes at NIFT Chennai is solely entrance-based i.e. - The National Institute of Technology (NIFT), which will be  conducting the written exams for NIFT 2024 tentatively in the 1st week of February 2024. For aspiring candidates, it’s mandatory to qualify for the written exam along with the situation test comprising different rounds. NIFT Chennai selects students based on the weightage of different parameters in each selection round. Additionally, the seat allocation is respectively common for all the reserved categories and the total seat intake is equally divided into each specialisation. 

Joining NIFT Chennai's BDes programme without entrance exam doesn't seem like a possibility. As per the Institution's admission guidelines, candidates must appear for the qualify The National Institute of Technology (NIFT) exam. The exam is conducted once every year and has TWO parts:

• Written Exams - It comprise the GAT and CAT. The GAT paper is mandatory for all programs, while only B.Des and M.Des candidates need to take the CAT. 
• Situation Test/ Personal Interview - B.Des candidates who get shortlisted have to appear in the Situation Test.

Candidates who have twelve years of school education with minimum of five subjects by the National Open School or from a recognised board are eligible for the BDes at NIFT Chennai. Additionally, as per the Institution's guidelines, candidate's maximum age should be less than 24 years (5 years relaxation in upper age for people from reserved categories). Now candidates are only required to appear for the NIFT entrance exam for BDes admission. 

B.FTech course at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Chennai costs INR 12.77 lakh. The course is four years long and is offered full-time. 

• Artisans/ Children of Artisans: INR 13,15,200
• NRI candidates: INR 972,000 – INR 1,106,300
• NRI NLEA candidates: INR 972,000 – INR 1,053,400 

Students looking to apply for the courses offered at NIFT Chennai are required to appear and clear the NIFT Entrance Exam conducted by the institute. The application process for NIFT Chennai is completely online. Candidates have to apply for via the official NIFT Admissions website. For admission to the NIFT programmes, candidates are required to appear for the NIFT entrance exam. First candidates have to register and create a unique id. The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Chennai accepts the General Ability Test (GAT) for admission to its B.F. Tech program. NIFT also accepts CAT scores for admission to its B. Des program. 

To be eligible for B.F. Tech, candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as a main subject from a recognised institute. The qualifying age is 24 years as on August 1 of the year of admission. For candidates of Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribe/ Persons With Disabilities (PWD), the upper age limit may be relaxed by a period of five years. 

Yes, NIFT Chennai does provide scholarships to its students. The institute provides SAARTHAK scholarship to its Indian students and UDAAN for foreign students. Additionally, students belonging to the SC/ ST categories can also avail of the National Scholarship available on National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
