NIT Jalandhar offers separate hostel facilities to boys and girls. There are ten boys’ hostels and three girls’ hostels. The facilities of the reading room, indoor games, washing machines etc. are available in each hostel. Internet facility is provided in most of the hostels. Other facilities like geysers, water purifiers and water coolers are provided in all the hostels. Students must effectively use common rooms that contain newspapers, literature, and other materials for indoor games. The hostel warden will set the common room hours on a regular basis.

NIT Jalandhar has been ranked 46 among the top Engineering Institutes in India by NIRF 2023. NIT Jalandhar offers a four-year B.Tech course. This course is offered across 11 specialisations. Admission to BTech at NIT Jalandhar is entrance-based. Students need to qualify for a national-level entrance exam, I. e. JEE Main followed by JoSAA Counselling. This exam is conducted by the NTA every year in two sessions. Further, the seats that remain unfilled in JoSAA such seats are filled with CSAB Counselling. To get admission to this course, students need to fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria and qualify for the respective entrance exam. As per the placement drive 2023, the average package offered to BTech graduates is INR 12.44 LPA. About 701 students were placed during the NITJ placement 2022-23 and 49 job offers were offered above INR 25 LPA.

The filling-in of choices on the online portal is free of cost. The candidate must pay the seat acceptance fee before continuing with the JoSAA process till the end to avail the seat in an IIT or NIT. The documents uploaded by the candidate will not be verified unless the candidate pays the seat acceptance fee. General/Open category candidates are required to pay a fee of INR 35,000, whereas SC, Gen-PwD, ST, OBC-NCL-PwD, ST-PwD, and SC-PwD have to pay INR 17,500. The fees will be included in the semester fees once students confirm their admission.

Seats for MBA at NIT Jalandhar are 76. At the time of admission, the seat are given based on factors such as category, cutoff marks, and intake. This info is taken from official sanctioning body and may change.

Yes, candidates can get direct admissions at NIT Jalandhar's PhD courses but only in the courses offered by the Engineering department. To secure direct admissions, candidates must clear a B.E./B.Tech course in any of the disciplines mentioned in annexure I/MCA from a Centrally Funded Technical Institute (CFTI) with minimum CGPA of 8.5.

The admission process for PG programme at NIT Jalandhar is merit based, with the college accepting GATE scores for the same. Candidates must check if they are eligible for the PG programme at the college and additionally must also register for the CCMT counselling process. After, attendiong the counselling session, candidates are shortlisted on the basis of merit with reference to their respective GATE scores.

Candidates seeking admission in NIT Jalandhar must qualify JEE Main for UG and CCMT for PG. Candidates must check the eligibility requirements for their preferred course before applying. Hereafter, candidates must register for the JoSAA/CCMT counselling process for UG/PG respectively. Subsequently, the college allocates seats on merit basis with reference to JEE Main/ GATE scores and candidate's preferneces recorded during the counselling process.

NIT Jalandar admisisons 2026 is open. The institute accepts admission through online application. Interested students can apply directly through the official page of the institute. 

Candidates seeking admission to NIT Jalandhar BTech courses must have passed Class 12 with 75% aggregate with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with any one of the Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Technical Vocational subjects (for SC/ST 65% aggregate is required). The aspirants must also hold the relevant documents for verification. Candidates who fulfil this eligibility criteria will be able to appear for JEE Main entrance exam.

Candidates can get admission at NIT Jalandhar with a rank of 50,000 in JEE Main. The Round-3 cutoff has been released for candidates belonging to the All India and Home State quota. The closing ranks varied between 10232 and 50828 among the General AI category candidates. Hence, getting admission at 50,000 is possible for General AI category candidates. 

The closing ranks varied between 15902 and 82761 for candidates belonging to the General Home State category. Therefore, it is possible to get admission to the college at 50000 rank, for General Home State category.

Every year, NTA conducts the JEE Main entrance exam for the selection of eligible candidates in IIT, NIT and IIITs. The admission process for JEE Main 2026 (session 1) registrations has been completed. JEE Main 2026 session 1 exam was held from January 21 to 30, and session 2 will be held from April 2 to 9.  January 21 to 30.
