An average college in all matters.

Placements: TCS is the only mass recruiter. Mostly, students from CS, IT, and ECE are placed. The average package is around 3 LPA. Earlier, many companies used to visit every year but now, not so many companies visit. The placement is less compared to the previous years. You can get detailed placement record on the college website.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure is basically old as it is the very first private engineering college of Odisha. The college is situated away from the city. The college lacks development. No airconditioned classrooms and labs. No maintenance at all. The boys' hostel is inside the college campus but only allows freshers. The girls' hostel is situated in the heart of the city 'Saheed Nagar'.

Faculty: The faculty members are poor except a few. They just carry a silly notes copy and to dictate from that. Many good faculty members have left the college and joined better places, so there is a scarcity of good teachers. The faculty members can't speak proper English. They soon change their language to Odiya. Most lab assistants are diploma holders. Very few professors are highly qualified.

Not so good infrastructure, faculty is somewhat good, placement is not so good.

Placements: The placement of my college was good for senior batches. To be placed in a good company, you will have to fulfill their criteria. Almost 40% students got placed with an average package of Rs. 3.25 lakhs. The highest package was Rs. 5.25 lakhs. Companies that were available to recruit are TCS, Accenture, Amazon and many more.

Infrastructure: No facilities for games and sports in the college hours. Medical facilities are good. Wi-Fi is present only in the departments. Toilets are cleaned every day. The classrooms and lab are average. The hostel rooms are good but the mess food is not up to the mark. The canteens are good. But sometimes they even sell you expired items.

Faculty: The faculty members are helpful and qualified. Their teaching method is good. Also, some faculty members don't have any knowledge about anything. The faculty members are always ready to clear your questions. Sometimes, theory subjects seem boring as the teaching quality is not good. You have to study by yourself if the teacher doesn't have knowledge. There is no action taken if you complain about any teacher.

Other: The timing of the college is really bad- 9:45 am to 5:15 pm. It's like we are doing jobs. The office members are really helpful. The most common problem is for the students who are coming from different states. The teachers use their local language to communicate, so many students don't even understand the class. The auditorium is the biggest in Odisha but the maintenance is not good.

Orissa Engineering College is the result of the vision of Late Shri Kamini Kanta Patnaik, who laid the foundation of what is today one of the best technical institutes in the state. OEC is a part of Nabajyoti Charitable Trust’s endeavour to provide quality education.
