B.Sc. in Biotechnology - Batch of 2024
3.6
Great faculty, good lab structure, and a clean and beautiful campus.
Placements: Placements were not offered. Most students apply through teachers and mostly get opportunities at the Serum Institute. Teachers mostly communicate random opportunities via class groups on WhatsApp. Most students who got placed got 3 LPA. Most students pursue M.Sc. and M.Sc.-PhD. after the course.
Infrastructure: The hostel facility was good, and the mess had great facilities. Regular bus services are provided to commute between the hostel and college. The area is clean and well-maintained. Medical stores, stationary stores and easily accessible locations.
Faculty: The teachers were very well qualified, and the quality of the examinations was great. The gaps in between exams can be frustrating, but they are manageable. The curriculum is updated according to the new developments, and mostly everyone passed with an A or above.

I would rate the campus with above 3 stars out of 5 in all aspects because it deserves it.
Placements: Around 70-75% of the students who got placements from our college for a particular department. If you talk about the packages then it's a little bit hectic to explain. But the average salary package offered is around 4 LPA -5 LPA. Serum is a well-known recruiting institute.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good if you talk about college building, design, and internal environment but there your experience may be low in terms of college labs and classrooms. Quality of facilities in the hostel is not much more good but if talk about restrictions, security and all then it may win your heart. Mess food is good enough.
Faculty: The faculty and teaching quality are good here. Teachers are well qualified and will help you at every point, all you need to do is you have to get in touch with them only then you will find them helpful to you. The course curriculum is relevant. In the upcoming future, this course is going to bring a revolution. Semester exams are a little bit tough for you but if you study well you'll tackle the semester exams.
Other: I chose this course because I wanted to go for research and believe me this is the best institute which will enhance you for doing that. You can go for startups as well in this course. Various fields are related to this course. The campus crowd is decent.

All things about the college are good. It is a better place to study, and placement is also satisfac
Placements: About 70% to 80% of students got placement every year. The highest package after B.Sc Degree is about INR 70,000 and the lowest is INR 25,000. Most of the research Institutes are linked together and after M.Sc, we can get that opportunity to work there. About 60% of students got the internship.
Infrastructure: Facilities regarding lab and instrument are good. The classroom and hall for the seminar are excellent. The library is also available. Suitable chairs are available for the student to study in the classrooms, library, and laboratory.
Faculty: All the teachers in the campus are high profiled Ph.D. teachers. Although, their knowledge is quite good and teaching quality is average and student also gets clear understanding. Free trips are organized by our university to visit most of the industry. The exam pattern is easy and the passing percentage is 33.

I am satisfied with good infrastructure and facilities, but placements were average in 2020.
Placements: You cannot expect any placements from our college if you are not one of the college's toppers, as the number of students getting placed from our college is very less. However, opportunities are available. The placement procedure is quite smooth, but internships are not available for all the students. You can refer to various sites to get an internship.
Infrastructure: Bharti Vidyapeeth University has an amazing campus, and the infrastructure is excellent. The entire campus is lush green, and separate hostels are available for boys and girls. The institute has a huge auditorium and library. There is a huge playground for various sports like football, cricket and hockey.
Faculty: BVDU has a wide range of professors from different colleges, and the teaching pedagogy is excellent. We can sense the standard of teaching. They are always approachable, and they are supportive. They keep contacts and also give us hands-on practical experience.
Other: I have appeared for CET exams for the admission process. I got selected for this university when I cracked this CET exam. This biotechnology course is to understand science. The best thing about this course is that we get to learn everything practically.

I am not much satisfied with the college.
Placements: The college didn't provide placements to our department. Few students rarely get an opportunity to continue their (paid) PhD from IRSHA which is a research lab associated with Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University. Otherwise, as far as I know, placements are not offered by the college.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is better than many other biotechnology colleges in Pune. Laboratories are well-equipped. There is no canteen present in the department, but an MBBS college canteen is available at a walkable distance. Various food stalls are available.
Faculty: The faculty are very helpful and knowledgeable. They generally use powerpoint presentations to teach, and most of the teachers share their presentations with the students as well. Otherwise, notes are provided. The course curriculum is similar to the other colleges.

Absolutely dissatisfied because placements are not provided as promised during admissions.
Placements: The college doesn't provide placements for bachelor's, in fact, there are no placements for seniors (Masters) as well. Companies don't visit the campus. The college suggests companies though, and students can apply on their own. Students opt for internships, but I am not sure if the stipend is offered or not.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is really good. Labs are well designed, and our college provides the best practise materials than any other biotechnology college in Pune. The canteen is pretty good. Hostels are horrible with bad mess facilities. No such problems are faced in contrast to the infrastructure.
Faculty: Professors are really knowledgeable and helpful. Industrial visits do take place which is helpful. They generally use powerpoint presentations to teach students. The course curriculum is vast, but the students get ample time to study and perform well.

Excellent in terms of guidance and infrastructure.
Placements: This institute provides you the best quality of education because they provide recommendations for applying to various fellowship and scholarship of different industrial and institutions. This institute has many tie-ups with its own department of many researcher institutes like IRSHA, BVDP and many more.
Infrastructure: Situated near the core of the Katraj, BVDP. The location is really cool. Our college provides wi-fi, digital learning. Every classroom is provided with projectors. The library has books, research paper, e-books, computers with internet etc. The college has 2 separate boy and girl rooms, one sports department and one games room with table tennis table and chess. Labs with all equipment and instruments. Mircobio lab, plant sci lab, animal sci lab, genetics lab, plant tissue lab, animal tissue lab, bio-informatics lab, computer lab with multiple windows. We have a canteen.
Faculty: All faculty members were good, best and supporting professors and HOD. Ppt and notes were provided to the students on each topic. And many related books. We went to sericulture, apiculture industry. And many more top institutes like CSIR, IISER.

Best as a stop-over or a last resort
Placements: As is the case in most life science undergraduate colleges, there is no scope for placements. The next step is generally a Masters course. Since its year of opening, Rajiv Gandhi institute of IT and Biotechnology has not conducted any placement sessions at the undergraduate or postgraduate level. Summer internships have to be applied for by the student himself/herself. Since internships are not compulsory, most students opt out of it.
Infrastructure: There is no Wi-Fi available on campus. Internet may be accessed through the computers kept in the library. Each department has its own laboratory. These include molecular biology, cell biology, plant tissue culture, microbiology, food technology, biochemistry, animal tissue culture and bioinformatics laboratories. These are moderately equipped. Basic chemicals and equipment required at the undergraduate are available. D not expect state of the art technology and facilities at this institute. Classrooms have a basic design and are equipped with wooden benches, a projector and a white board. The library is below par and is not well stocked. Major Journals have not been accessed which is a major let down for this research oriented course. The university has a medical college and hospital within its campus where in medical facilities can be availed. Sports facilities are also common for all the university students. The gymnasium falls under the physical education college and can be accessed with a nominal monthly charge. There are 3 canteens available on campus- engineering, medical and PG medical canteens which provide decent food. However there are many food joints just outside the campus gate which provide better quality food and satisfy any food cravings that a student may face. Hostels are not of good quality. Only first year male students are provided with Hostel facilities after which they have to find their own accommodation. The mess food provided has been a constant sore point with no improvement over the years. There are good private hostels available within a 2 km radius of the campus which would be a better option. The fees charged by every college in the university are not justified by the infrastructural facilities provided.
Faculty: Like any other college, Rajiv Gandhi is also a mix of good, intelligent, knowledgeable professors (very few including the vice-principals) and sub-par professors. While all the professors are helpful, It is so more at a personal level than a professional one which is of great importance at the college level. A few professors also come across as judgemental and assess a student's credentials based more on their personal lives than their academic prowess. In spite of being Doctorates, they seem very backdated in their approach in dealing with students of this generation. Gossip mongering seems to be encouraged and is clearly visible in classrooms. Standard teaching methods include presentations supplemented with a few extra reading materials. The maximum batch strength at the undergraduate level is 60 and there are approximately 15-20 professors in all. Industry exposure is mainly in the form of industrial visits which are treated more as picnics than actual knowledge imparting experiences. While the course outline in itself is excellent, the curriculum followed is disappointing. The curriculum followed is more with the thought of getting every student to pass rather than challenge them and mould their minds to form future scientists. Hardwork, intelligence and knowledge of things outside the curriculum is barely rewarded.
Other: Entrance exams form an important part of any undergraduate biotechnology student's life. Please do not expect any help from the college on this matter. The course work taught is not ample for the exams either. The normal course outline has to be supplemented with reference books (normally examinations in college can be attempted and aced solely based on presentations provided by the faculty which often makes reading reference books seem futile) if these entrance examinations are to be cracked. A student will have to depend on his/her own aptitude to crack any interviews that may be held in case an entrance exam is aced. I strongly recommend every student to not solely rely on the college curriculum and to constantly read research articles and good reference books by foreign authors to help broaden their future prospects.
