Candidates seeking admission to the M.Tech programme offered at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology must pay the non-refundable RGIPT M.Tech application fees of INR 500 (for candidates who belong to General and OBC category) and, INR 250 (for candidates who belong to SC, ST and, PwD category) before filing of application form.

RGIPT M.Tech average placement data has not been declared by the institute. However, according to the students' reviews on the Shiksha page, in the year 2023, a total of 27 students got placed out of 30 and, RGIPT M.Tech average package was around INR 10 LPA.

RGIPT fee structure for a two-year M.Tech programme is broken down into multiple components, such as tuition fee, hostel fee and one-time fee. Apart from the tuition fee of INR 40,000, candidates are required to pay the one-time fee of INR 16,000 which includes admission fee, alumni membership fee, student's welfare fund, thesis fees and caution money (refundable) and the hostel fee of INR 60,000.

Candidates selected for admission to the M.Tech programme must bring the following documents in original and self-attested photocopies for verification during RGIPT M.Tech admission as mentioned below:

• GATE/ written test score card
• Class 10 Certificate and marksheet
• Class 12 Certificate and marksheet
• Graduation Certificate and marksheet
• SC/ ST/ OBC (NCL)/ EWS/ PwD Certificate (if applicable)

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology does not offer any scholarship to the M.Tech programme students but provide financial assistance in the form of Institute Assistantships to students admitted under the Full Time Regular Registration Category.

Presently, assistantships at INR 12,400 pm are available for GATE-qualified candidates. Non- GATE qualified candidates, admitted to the programmes at the EIB Centre will be provided with an Institute assistantship of INR 8,000 pm. A student shall be assigned duties up to eight hours per week by the departments to avail teaching assistantship. There are a large number of Institute Fellowships available for M.Tech programme students in various disciplines.

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, Sivasagar generally does not offer direct admissions. Students have to clear the admission test conducted by the institute.  However, vacant seats may get filled based on HSLC exam or equivalent scores with Mathematics and Science as compulsory subjects.
