Our college has friendly and understanding teachers.

Placements: Top recruiting companies did not visit our campus. We had fewer opportunities in undergraduate programs than in postgraduate programs. They had greater access to the recruiting companies.

Infrastructure: Our college provided excellent infrastructure. Classrooms and libraries were good. The department had its libraries. The quality of food in the canteen was average.

Faculty: Our teachers were friendly and helpful. They understand you well. Theory could be repeated if you wanted to. The office workers help you with scholarship transfers when you need them.

Other: Economics had numerous job opportunities.

I am satisfied with the college but can be improved.

Placements: A few of us got placed from college. Some students got placed in TCS and Accenture. But the salary packages offered were very less. As far as I remember, the highest salary package offered was 2.5 LPA, which is noticeably low. Mainly job roles offered were financial analyst and data analyst. Our college did not provide internships.

Infrastructure: I was a day scholar, so I don't know about hostel facilities. Our department had Wi-Fi, labs and also we had a shared library. Food served in the canteen was average. Medical room was also available. But sports and games were a bit lacking. Food served was better outside the college than inside the college.

Faculty: Teachers in our college were qualified and helpful. But there were certain aspects that can be improved. Even the administration can be improved. Availability of study material can be improved, and more practical based work should be incorporated. We should learn to tackle the work-life because practicals matter more than theories.

Best university and best faculty members in Kolkata.

Placements: Placement committee of this university is commendable. They try to improve every year. Almost ten to fifteen percentage candidates are placed every year. Top companies like TCS, HSBC, Genpact, Ipsos are recruited every year. In the initial stage, they offered fifteen thousand rupees per month.

Infrastructure: Calcutta University is well known for its heritage. It was constructed in the British period. So all the classrooms are elegant and they have big windows and doors. Canteen is spacious and it has good quality food. But the Wi-Fi facility is still not there. But they have a big library which has millions of books to read.

Faculty: Many renowned persons have studied there and also taught at Calcutta University. Highly knowledgeable professors are available there to teach the students with their fabulous teaching quality. They are highly qualified and they teach like we are in group discussion with friends.

Good academics and affordable, but placements are weak.

Placements: Placements are very weak. There are almost no core economics or analyst roles on campus. The placement cell focuses more on commerce courses, and even then outcome are average. Most economics students rely on off-campus applications, competitive exams, certification, internships, or higher studies. If placements are your main goal, then this college will not help much.

Infrastructure: Campus is okay for Kolkata city college vibes. You get big classrooms, decent labs, a spacious library with lots of books, pc labs, a canteen, common rooms & some sports options, but no hostel, and Wi-Fi isn't always reliable for students. Some parts are well-maintained while others feel old or cramped.

Faculty: Teachers are mostly qualified, knowledgeable, and helpful if you’re serious, but teaching quality varies. Curriculum is solid for core economics and higher studies, but not industry-ready by default. Semester exams are moderate and manageable with regular study. The pass percentage is high (around 85-90%) if you stay consistent.

Other: I picked this course because I wanted to study economics and eventually get into data Science. The academics are solid, but the internships and industry exposure could be better. Campus life is chill with small fests and events. The crowd is mixed, connectivity is great, and there are scholarships and extracurricular activities if you put yourself out there.
