Review of Asutosh College.

Placements: After B.Sc., placements are not possible. As per my knowledge, the college has a placement cell and that organises campus interviews to facilitate job proposals for the final year students. Students get quality opportunities to get placed in a different way.

Infrastructure: Asutosh College is the only college in South Kolkata which has hostel facilities. It has two hostels for boys and girls. However, the available seats are insufficient to meet the needs of all intending boarders. Seats are allotted strictly on the merit cum distance basis. The college has a well stocked library and reading room facilities. Wi-Fi is available but not so good. Classrooms are spacious.

Faculty: The course curriculum is based on the curriculum made by University of Calcutta which is guided by UGC. Teachers are highly knowledgeable, qualified and caring indeed. They guide students in every aspect to be successful in life. Besides the teaching staff, non-teaching staffs are very helpful as well.

Other: An annual cultural fest called Udaan is conducted by the college every year. Connectivity is the best. The college is situated beside the Jatin Das Park metro gate. Bus and auto facilities are also present. There is a bus stop in front of the college gate, and the college is just 200 metres away from Hazra More.

It has excellent teachers with good infrastructure but poor placements.

Placements: There isn't a particular placement cell. However, for a few departments like economics and statistics, some companies visited here. The salary package offered is around 2-3 LPA. Although this year, the corona pandemic happened, so new job creation is nearly impossible.

Infrastructure: Our college provides us with all the facilities such as Wi-Fi, laboratories, library and even an E-library. A range of books is found here, which helps us to improve our outer knowledge. Yearly several sporting events are also held, which helps students to showcase their talents.

Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and ready to answer our queries. We get to learn topics and information beyond our books and syllabus which help us in future. This course curriculum is relevant, and our syllabus covers all the points which make us industry-ready.

Other: I have chosen this course because economics has a mixture of mathematics, statistics and theoretical studies, which enhances our educational skills. Our department is invited to several economic seminars and events which enlarges our circle and knowledge.

Candidates who has passed the 10+2 or its equivalent examination is eligible to apply provided he/she has also passed in English having full marks not being less than 100. No candidate shall be allowed for admission after a lapse of more than 3 years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination or discontinuation of recognized regular Course of Study after passing the previous qualifying examination. For the purpose of determining eligibility for admission to the Honours Course, aggregate marks shall be calculated by adding the marks in top-four subjects in order of marks secured by a candidate. However, marks in compulsory Environmental Education /Studies shall not be taken into account for calculation of aggregate marks. Candidate must have aggregate 50%, passed in Mathematics. However, Candidates belonging to the SC/ ST or OBC Community must have obtained a minimum of 40% marks in the aggregate at the previous qualifying examination.
