Once a Xaverian, always a Xaverian.

Placements: Many students get internships from my college in big companies like Deloitte, PwC, etc. The package is an average of 7 LPA. The salary is almost what a CA would get in their early days. Also, this college develops students' personality through seminars and its punctuality and discipline. Therefore, it helps in CVs, and companies prefer Xavier's students over any.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure is not so good. It has different kinds of labs. The canteen is big and good. It has ATM, ice-cream cart, and papri chat cart that is always there. Green benches are the place to sit and relax. It has a big auditorium and a girls' common room also.

Faculty: Most teachers have graduated from college only. The course curriculum is as per NEP 2020. The examination and checking level is up to mark. There are many societies also in my college, 2-3 of which are at the national and international levels.

Other: One big 3-day fest is held in February, known as Xavotsav. The campus crowd is good, and it's safe. Surrounding areas are also good. I chose this course because it's well recognized and this college has its brand name.

Good networking opportunities and exposure.

Placements: Percentage of students placed was not that great. But some of my friends got really nice placements from college in very good companies. 20 LPA - 25 LPA package was offered to them last year. A well-dedicated placement cell looks after all of this.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of this college was fine. There was a well-established air-conditioned library, two canteens, three-four lab rooms, and some of the classrooms were air-conditioned. The quality of the food provided by the canteen was average. Not much options were present.

Faculty: Teachers at the college were welcoming. They were qualified and knowledgeable. The course curriculum provided by the college was mostly relevant and provided you with brief industry insights. Semester exams were not difficult. Passing percentage was good.

Other: I am pursuing CA and most of the syllabus of this course was similar to my CA syllabus, it was easier to do along with CA. There were a lot of events held by the societies (speaker sessions, standups, debates). Xavotsav is the college fest that takes place every year.

Academically Good but Socially Questionable

Placements: We are 1st year students so we don't know much about the placements but we know that big companies like Deloitte recruit students from our college. Internship opportunities are provided to all year students based on different eligibility criteria so it is convenient and attainable for all.

Infrastructure: Infrastructure is great but not all classrooms have ACs which is problematic and causes difficulties in extreme summer periods. All classrooms have proper projector and wifi facilities. The canteen is also decent. Nothing is too bad, the pricing as well as the quality is decent. Sports and gaming facilities are also provided, there is a table tennis room and carrom and other indoor games are also there. Outdoor sports are also played like softball, football, dodgeball, basketball. The ground is very large which is very suitable for sports.

Faculty: The teachers are helpful and approachable with great experience. They provide study materials for exams which are really helpful. The professors are present in the college one hour prior to classes for doubt clearing sessions for individuals. There are 4 examinations held per year, 2 semester exams and 2 CIAs (Continuous Internal Assessments).

Other: B.com hons is the flagship course for St Xavier's College. It offers best education for students in this field, they provide great exposure to students through speaker sessions, events and competitions which shape student's personality and career. The faculty is great but the students are a bit arrogant. People are less inclusive and are less friendly. There is a bit of groupism and superiority complex between students which is the negative side of this college. Social life here is great, many events are held in the college so people can participate and engage from time to time. Scholarship schemes are also provided by the college ranging from full coverage to partial waivers depending on the student's capabilities.

Talented faculty make learning great.

Placements: Placement cell of St Xavier's College, Kolkata was great. I did not sit for placement as I wanted to pursue Higher studies. But a lot of my classmates got placed. They got job offers from companies like PWC, Zomato, etc. And especially the big 4. Salary package was great as well.

Infrastructure: Hostel had strict rules and discipline, but apart from that, food was good. There was Wi-Fi access, labs, and AC classrooms. Library was amazing, there were AC rooms to study as well. Central library is famous in the city as it has a huge collection of books.

Faculty: Faculty is the best part of this college. Semester exams are difficult, but with the material and guidance, a student can easily pass. And if they study regularly, they can get higher scores. Course is updated (like GST included) and relevant.

Other: Events and fests are great. And a lot of extracurricular activities are available, so that students can take part and showcase their talents. Overall, I enjoyed my college life, and I'm doing a Master's currently in the same college, so it's great.

Absolutely satisfied. It is one of the best colleges for commerce students in or outside Kolkata.

Placements: St. Xavier's College Kolkata is known for its vast placement opportunities. In my course, 70% of students who sat in placements got placed last year (2024). The highest package is 24 LPA. The average package is 4.5 LPA and the lowest package is 2 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Deloitte, PwC, JP Morgan, McKinsey, etc. 70% of students got internships in my course. Top roles offered are business analyst, marketing operation head, product manager, etc.

Infrastructure: The hostel has a lot of facilities including food. Dorms are very well-cleaned and furnished. Beds are really comfortable. Wi-Fi is available, and there's another room for students to watch television, etc. The quality of food is average in the mess and canteen. Sports and games facilities are also top-notch. The college as well as hostel grounds are very wide for students to practice. Summarising, it is very well set up.

Faculty: At SXC, teachers are very helpful and they focus on particular students not just the bright ones. They are qualified and knowledgeable. Some of them are from BITS Pilani, IIM Calcutta, etc. The teaching quality is good. The course curriculum is relevant as it teaches everything from the accounting point of view to English for business communication. The course curriculum is relevant, and it makes students industry-ready. Semester exams are not difficult and it is easy to crack if students follow class lectures diligently.

Other: I chose this course because I am drawn to concepts of marketing and finance. The best thing about B.Com is that it can yield us various jobs and it opens opportunities in various sectors. The course can be better if the syllabus is more market trend-oriented. Events, fest, campus crowd, connectivity, surroundings, scholarship, extracurricular activities, and everything is top-notch at SXC.

It is bearable if you have friends.

Placements: There is a dedicated placement cell for students that assists them with placements. There are great internship opportunities, and a large number of students are placed through campus placements. The placement percentage differs from course to course.

Infrastructure: Wi-Fi, libraries, canteen, and different grounds for different sports are very well maintained. However, there is a water supply issue sometimes, which is adjustable. A big issue is no ACs, which causes students to not fully concentrate in class and remain distracted because of the heat.

Faculty: Teachers are generally super nice (though there are a few exceptions). They are qualified, knowledgeable, and understand students and their problems. All doubts are solved without any hesitation. The curriculum is relevant and necessary for students to gain knowledge in those fields. The semester examinations are moderate to tough, but most students pass.

Other: St. Xavier's College Kolkata has a good reputation and is ranked 6th among colleges in India according to the NIRF rankings of 2024. Faculty is good, and the library is excellent, beyond expectations. It has all kinds of resources for all types of courses, along with reading rooms. Things I wish could be improved are that maybe a few teachers should also explain what they are just reading from the PPT. Having only one fest a year seems too few and less exciting for a college. Even schools have more events than this college.
