Good knowledge and exposure with internships, events, and industrial visits.
Placements: More than 60% of students from our course got placed, indicating a good placement rate overall. Although I am not aware of the exact salary package details, some of the top recruiters for our course include companies like Aachi. Internships are provided to all students as part of the curriculum in every semester. Students got the opportunity to intern at reputed places such as Aavin, Modern Bakers, various food processing units, Writers Cafe, and Winners Bakery, which help us gain hands-on experience and industry exposure.
Infrastructure: The college provides good infrastructure for our course. There are well-equipped labs, a dedicated food processing area like a kitchen, spacious classrooms, and access to a general library for academic needs. The hostel facilities are quite good, with clean rooms and decent amenities. The quality of food in the mess is satisfactory, with a variety of options available. A medical room is also available for basic health support. The college encourages physical activities, offering a wide range of sports and games, which are also made mandatory for first-year students to promote fitness and participation.
Faculty: The teachers are well-qualified and professional in their approach. They teach the subjects clearly and are helpful whenever students need support. The curriculum is relevant to the course and helps us understand the industry basics. The semester exams are not very difficult. If we understand the concepts well and prepare properly, it's easy to pass. The overall pass percentage is quite good for our course.
Other: I chose this course because I had an interest in learning new things, cooking, and working in the food industry. There are many events conducted where we can interact with the whole college. If you want to enjoy your college life, join Stella College.

I am satisfied with the campus and course.
Placements: The percentage of students who got placed with the help of college placements is very low. The highest salary package offered would be around 5 LPA, the lowest salary package offered would be 1 LPA, and the average salary package offered would be 2.5 LPA. Top companies which recruit students of this department would be food factories for their quality analyst.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is very good, and it is neatly maintained and has a big space. Wi-Fi is available around the campus, and the hostel facilities are good. There are two types of hostels, of which one would be average, and the other is grand. The food in the canteen is average and suitable for daily food. Classrooms and labs are good.
Faculty: Teachers are knowledgeable and qualified for teaching subjects in the course. They would be rude rarely. The course makes students industry-ready as it has many practical classes, but we didn't have that much due to covid. The college arranges internships during the holidays.
Other: Events would happen often, and they would act as stress busters. The campus is neat and cool.

I am satisfied with the faculty members and infrastructure.
Placements: Only a few students got placed in college placements. The highest salary package offered is 4 LPA, the lowest salary package offered is 1 LPA, and the average salary package offered would be 2 LPA for B.Voc food processing and quality control. Some of the top recruiters of this course would be Shakthi Masala, Major Bakeries, Hotels, etc. Some students got placed in milk factories too.
Infrastructure: The college campus is very good. The hostel is like a 5-star hotel with a good ambience. Wi-Fi is available on the campus, but a password is not given to students. Labs are normal with all equipment. The food available in the canteen is good. Classrooms are normal with a capacity of 50-60 members, and the library is also good.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful most of the time. They are qualified and knowledgeable to teach those subjects. The quality of teaching is average. Students are made industry-ready as we had 2-3 internships which need to be done in bakeries and other shops where the work is being taught.

Good infrastructure with royal hostel facility, huge campus and internship opportunities.
Placements: Placements are just average and college does not care about placements. Around 75% are getting jobs by applying for it. The highest package offered is 5 lacks per annum, the lowest is 1 lack per annum and the average is 3 lacks per annum. The top recruiters would be from Aachi, Sakthi masala, leading bakeries in city etc.
Infrastructure: College has Wi-Fi all around the campus. Labs and classrooms are good. Library has many books that can be used for reference. The hostel is divided into two blocks one is a normal one and the other is a premium block. The premium block hostel is so good looking and gives a royal feel staying there. The normal hostel block is also not bad. Food is good in the mess and canteen. The college supports sports and games well but some departments are strict like vocational groups.
Faculty: The teachers are helpful and qualified with the knowledge that is required for the course. The quality of teaching is satisfying and they teach with interaction by asking questions in-between and keep the class engaging. The course curriculum is relevant as we have a lot of labs related to industry and thus making us industry ready. We also had mandatory 10 day internships like going to a bakery and learning how things are done.
Other: This course would lead to a food processing engineer/manager where we can monitor the quality of food and thus it inspires me a lot. It would be better if more internships are arranged so that people get to know the industry ready standards. Some internships are useless like marketing which is not related to course content. College would organise a lot of events and fest which would occur back to back. It would be an ice breaker for the students when these events occur.

Q:   What will happen if someone misses the internal exam in Stella Maris College, Chennai?
    A:

Depending on the rules and regulations that apply specifically to Stella Maris College in Chennai, the repercussions of skipping an internal exam may be different. Internal exams are typically an important part of a student's evaluation and factor into their overall course achievement.

If a student skips an internal exam at Stella Maris College, here are some potential consequences:

Zero Marks: A student is likely to earn a zero mark for an internal exam if they skip it without a good excuse or permission from college administrators. This may have a substantial effect on their overall course grade on the internal assessment.

Make-up Exam: If a student has a legitimate cause for missing the initial exam, the college may in some situations offer them the chance to take a make-up exam. Valid justifications frequently involve unexpected events like medical emergencies. To consider the request for a make-up exam, the college will need the appropriate supporting documentation or evidence, though.

Internal exams frequently contribute to the overall evaluation of a course. A student's final grades or GPA for that particular course may suffer if they fail an internal exam and receive no credit.

Repeat of the Course: If a student doesn't pass an exam, they may have to do the entire course again. This depends on the college's policies and how important the test is to the overall evaluation of the course.

The college's examination and academic rules, including the precise guidelines for internal exams and attendance requirements, must be understood by all students. It is important to let the college know if a student expects to miss an exam or has experienced any unexpected circumstances that could result in a potential absence. The student should also follow the correct protocol for asking for permission to skip an exam and, if necessary, requesting a make-up exam.

Please note that while I have provided a response, it is based on my broad understanding of academic practises and that specific policies may differ between schools. Students should consult their academic advisors or faculty members for the most current and accurate information concerning the repercussions of skipping internal exams at Stella Maris College as well as the college's official website and student handbook.

Q:   How is CGPA calculated in Stella Maris College, Chennai?
    A:

Stella Maris College in Chennai and other educational institutions may use different methods to calculate CGPAs (Cumulative Grade Point Averages). For the most accurate and current information, it is crucial to confirm the precise CGPA calculation technique with the college administration or to refer to the official student handbook.

However, in general, the following processes are used to calculate CGPA:

Grade Point: Based on the student's performance, each course or subject is often given a grade, such as an A, B, C, D, or F, with corresponding Grade Points (GP) attached to each grade. For instance:

    A: 10 Grade Points, please
    B: 8 Grade Points in

    C: Grade six points
    D: 4 Grade Points
F: 0 grade points (signifying failure)
Credit Hours: Each course has a specific amount of credits, which signify the course's weight or significance. A 3-credit course, for example, is thought to be more important than a 2-credit course.

Calculating CGPA: Use the procedures below to determine the CGPA for a particular time period (such as a semester or academic year):

Divide each course's Grade Point by the appropriate number of Credit Hours.
Total the weighted Grade Points earned over that time period across all courses.
Subtract the total number of completed credit hours from the weighted grade point total.
Typically, the CGPA computation formula is as follows:

CGPA is calculated as (Total Weighted Grade Points / Total Credit Hours).

It's crucial to keep in mind that Stella Maris College can have its own unique grading, credit, and CGPA computation schemes. For further information on how the CGPA is determined at Stella Maris College, students should consult the college's formal academic policies, the student handbook, or their academic advisors.
