SIT Pune M.Tech programme is two years long. The programme follows a semester model which means the course material is spread over four semesters. Each semester students have to choose general electives and in the last semester students have to appear for seminars and internship. They can also do internships during the mid semester break. Therefore, the two year long programme has multiple components in its curriculum.

SIT Pune admission takes place through GATE. Candidates applying for admission in the M.Tech programme have to apply and appear for the exam and secure a valid score to be eligible for admission in the programme. The institute does not conduct or recognize results of any other exam for its M.Tech admissions.

Aspirants who have not passed or appeared for GATE, can take admission by appearing for the SIT Entrance Exam. Selected candidates are then further called for a personal interview round.
