UIET Chandigarh admission involves multiple-steps such as application, selection, counselling and seat allotment. Aspirants need to appear for an entrance exam to get a seat in the courses. Below is step-wise admission details for UIET:
1: UIET Chandigarh Application Process 2026
Candidates applying for BE have to first register for JEE Main followed by JAC Counselling. Aspirants also need to apply on the official website of UIET for BE and ME/ MTech programmes. The mode of application for all courses is online. Aspirants need to fill out the form for PhD on the institute's website.
2: Selection
The inter-se merit of the candidates for BE admission will be determined on the basis of All India Rank (AIR) obtained in JEE Main followed by JAC Counselling. For lateral entry, PULEET is conducted by the university for admission. UIET selects aspirants for ME/ MTech courses based on GATE score. Non-GATE candidates can also get admission based on their merit in the last qualifying exam. The institute conducts an entrance test to shortlist candidates for PhD programme. Aspirants with GATE or UGC NET scores can also get admission in PhD programme.
3: Counselling & Admission Confirmation
Once selected, BE candidates are required to participate in JAC Counselling. For MTech, the institute releases a merit list. UIET releases the entrance test result on the institute's website. Selected aspirants are required to bring their documents for verification and pay the course fee to confirm their seat.

UIET Chandigarh offers two-year ME/ MTech courses divided into four semesters. The institute offers ME in seven specialisations and MTech in two specialisations. For MBA at UIET Chandigarh, candidates will require a minimum score of 50% in the Bachelor's degree from a recognised university. The bachelor's degree can be in any discipline.
