PEC Chandigarh is a college with a history and optimism.
Placements: I have taken into account placements of the ECE branch, as placements in VLSI would be similar, if not better, than ECE. For the 2024–25 session, around 75–80% of students got placed. Top core electronics companies that visited include Tata Electronics, Texas Instruments, Micron Technology, Cadence Design Systems, and Qualcomm. Software and finance companies like American Express, PhonePe, Uber, Flipkart, Goldman Sachs, and UKG also visited for core electronics, SDE, and analyst roles. The highest package for ECE was 61 LPA offered by Uber, the lowest was 3.30 LPA, and the average was 16 LPA.
Infrastructure: For VLSI, there is a Semiconductor Research Centre where chip fabrication is even done, inaugurated by the Defence Minister. There is also a 5G lab, which has been ranked among the top 100 labs in the country, so in electronics, good lab facilities are not an issue. Classrooms are old (the college was established in 1921), but the new academic block is decent. Hostels are okay for first year. Students are allocated to Shivalik hostel, where A and B blocks are very old, but C block is modern. Food is decent, and a dispensary is also available.
Faculty: Some teachers are great, while some are average. Most electronics and CSE professors are decent. For VLSI, the syllabus is relevant and industry-oriented. Mid-semester and end-semester exams are quite difficult, but one can still achieve a good CGPA without extreme stress. The academic workload is well managed.
Other: I had a rank of 24992, and this was the best option I had. PEC is a great college with a notable history and good location. I hope the infrastructure improves further as constant development is ongoing. The annual fest PECFEST is very grand. The crowd is decent and smart. The college offers almost all major sports like cricket, football, badminton, and tennis. Merit-cum-need scholarships are also available.

Genuine review of Punjab Engineering College.
Placements: I am from the Computer Science and Engineering branch of Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh. Placements in our college are handled by CDGC (Career Development and Guidance Centre) which actively coordinates with the students. A good percentage of students get placed every year with an average package of 16 LPA. Many reputable companies visit the campus for hiring.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is above average especially for the Computer Science department. There are well-furnished and air-conditioned classrooms in the department. There are a lot of well-equipped labs, Wi-Fi, library, reading halls, market, and canteens on the campus and grounds for each sport. The hostels are a bit old but new ones are getting better.
Faculty: The teachers at Punjab Engineering College are qualified and knowledgeable with strong academic expertise in various domains. They are supportive and open to solving doubts and even guiding the future. The courses at college cover all the core subjects but students must put in effort to self-study and self-exploration. Semester exams are moderately difficult and are conducted twice a semester with grading being relatively lenient which gives a relaxation to students.
Other: There are many technical and cultural societies and clubs where students can join, explore new options, meet new people, and grow. There are a lot of sports facilities and grounds for every sport. There are several club events and sports tournaments throughout the year. The one to watch is PEC fest which is the annual cultural and technical festival of the college held each year in November.

Satisfied with the college because it gives us all the facilities.
Placements: Placement percentage is 70 to 80% in electrical engineering. The highest package is about 80 LPA, and the average is 13 LPA. About 20 to 30% got internships. All big companies like Microsoft and Apple come to campus here.
Infrastructure: Full college Wi-Fi all over the campus. Labs are well-maintained, and the overall college infrastructure is average. There is a decent library with full facilities. Classrooms are very good, and the whole college is fully air-conditioned. Hostels are average, and food quality is also average, as in all NITs or other colleges. A medical dispensary is also available on campus. All types of sports and grounds are available with decent facilities, and there is also a gym.
Faculty: Teaching quality is overall good or average, not excellent. Teachers are well qualified. The course is relevant. The difficulty of exams is moderate, with a pass percentage of 90 to 95%. This pass percentage varies subject-wise. Physics is very tough here, and exams and quizzes in Physics are tough. Exams of all other subjects are normal.

Peaceful life at Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh.
Placements: For design, there’s almost no placement. No student has yet completed the course as it started three years ago, but still, looking at other factors, you will have to find internships yourself. The percentage of internships in 3rd year is 4 percent till now.
Infrastructure: Pretty campus, AC's in almost all classes except the old classrooms. For hostels, there are many restrictions. For girls, no one is allowed outside after 9, for boys, it’s a bit lenient. Clean rooms with windows. Boys’ hostel lacks a laundry though. A few small adjustments will have to be made.
Faculty: Everyone is helpful, but faculty lacks professors from a design background. I hope staff recruitment gets better. But still, a couple of teachers are amazing and definitely very helpful. The curriculum is exactly like IIT B's design course, so the whole course is inclined to industrial design and is technical.

The college beats many top-tier colleges in terms of placement, and the overall experience is great.
Placements: Approximately 70% to 74% of students have been placed so far. The highest package for the EE branch this year is 52 LPA. The average package remains 12.90 LPA and the lowest package offered was 3.20 LPA. Microsoft, Google, Apple, BMW, Maruti, L&T, and Siemens are some of the top recruiters.
Infrastructure: Personally, I feel the infrastructure is quite updated and should be replaced, and development is ongoing. Everything a student needs is present on the campus. I like the library, computer labs, and reading area. The classrooms are equipped with smart projectors, and Wi-Fi is available throughout the building. The hostels are quite decent; again, the infrastructure is quite outdated, and the mess food is also decent. Sports facilities are available for every kind of game, like volleyball, cricket, basketball, and there is also a swimming pool inside the campus.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and knowledgeable. These are teachers qualified from prestigious colleges of India like IITs, NITs, and other top government colleges. It is really easy to communicate with them and get your doubts cleared. The courses are quite relevant, but not so relevant, which I believe should be updated. But it's the problem faced by almost every college, I guess, these days. For the most part, this makes you industry-ready too. Semester exams are not so difficult, but the grading is relatively strict, so you have to prepare accordingly.
Other: I chose this course because of the versatility and the good placements offered by this college. This branch allows me to take any job related to my field or a core-related job. I would like to skip some parts that are outdated and not used in the industry but are taught just for the sake of knowledge. The crowd is very good. The college organizes events, and sports competitions are held in our college. There are many scholarships provided by the college and the college is filled with extracurricular activities. You can have fun if you wish to.

Truth about the infrastructure of PEC, Chandigarh.
Placements: Almost 75% of students were placed in our course. On average, the highest and the lowest packages were around 8.5, 26, and 5 LPA, respectively. Top recruiting companies included Tata Projects, L&T, and government bodies as well. Top roles offered were structural engineer, design engineer, site supervisor, etc.
Infrastructure: Classes lack Wi-Fi and internet connectivity due to jammers installed in the classes. The library is well-equipped with all the necessary facilities and Wi-Fi connectivity. The infrastructure of classes and labs is a bit too old. The facilities of the hostel are also just enough to survive, and the food quality is average. The canteen food is good. The college has enough facilities for endorsing sports and games.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful. However, some professors are strict. They are knowledgeable and teach well. The course curriculum is relevant and industry-ready. The exams are doable and not too difficult. The pass percentage is good in number. There are some issues with the marking rules. Some teachers are strict, and some do lenient checking.
Other: It is one of the top government colleges in the country, and this course was the best option I was getting based on my JEE rank. They can improve the infrastructure of the labs and make it much more teaching-oriented and modern. Club events take place on campus quite often. The surroundings are good. The campus is nice and provides you with unforgettable moments.
