I always had stage fear and it was pulling me back from pursuing my ambition of being a stand-up comedian. The college helped me come out of my comfort zone and it made me smarter and more confident.

In West Bengal, people are quite crazy about the Science stream. Everyone expects you to choose Science for your higher secondary education and it was the same with my parents. I got 88% marks in my 10th board exam which was quite good and so, I took Science for further studies. I always liked Mathematics and Physics. Although Physics is not an easy subject. I never understood Biology and Chemistry. But still, I got 65% and 67% marks respectively in Biology and Chemistry. After completing my 12th, I decided to take a year drop to prepare for the JEE entrance exam.

My rank in JEE was 39577 and I managed to get the mining branch. Honestly speaking, I did not know anything about the mining branch but due to my JEE rank, I was able to get only this branch. I hadn't chosen this branch willingly, it was my rank due to which I ended up in mining engineering. I must say it was a bad choice. In mining engineering, you usually end up getting a job in rural areas and I am not really comfortable about it as I want to stay in the city only.

I completed my higher secondary education in 2017 and then took a year drop. I only appeared for the JEE Main as it was my prime focus. I had studied in a Bengali medium school affiliated with WBCHSE (Bengal Board). So, I was not familiar with MCQs much. I took coaching classes for the preparation and practiced from the study material I borrowed from one of my friends. I studied from books like Rudiments of Physics and I even got 3 questions in the exam from this book.

I have always been a keen learner and problem solver and this had proved to be very useful for me. In JEE Main 2018, there were a total of 90 questions that included 30 questions of Mathematics, 30 of Physics, and 30 of Chemistry. I was not fond of Chemistry as I found it to be a boring subject. I often used to bunk my Chemistry classes. Mathematics and Physics were the only saving grace for me in the exam. I got a good general rank, and I got into my current college. I was also interested in NIT Agartala for Electrical Engineering.

The class timings in college are from 9 in the morning to 5 in the evening. In between the classes, we usually have breaks during which we go for tea or coffee. I stay in a hostel. Till now my hostel life has been pretty amazing. I am not interested in mining and so, I have decided to find a job for myself in the IT sector.

We have many clubs in our college like debating, music, drama, and photography. A comedy club is going to start soon in college. You can join any club according to your interest and choice. In college, I spend my time exercising in the gym. There is a swimming pool on the campus which is a great place for students to relax and release their stress. I play cricket but I mostly go to open mics for stand-up comedy. I love playing the guitar also.

If given a chance I would like to be a stand-up comedian. I also want to be the writer in Les Thespians - The Drama club of the college. I always had stage fear and it was pulling me back from pursuing my ambition of being a stand-up comedian. In college, I saw my friends who were very comfortable while performing on the stage. It pushed me to develop my personality and I also worked on my English speaking skills as I always felt that I was not good at it. My roommate was a great guitar player. He influenced me a lot and I started playing guitar on stage on several occasions. I tried to enhance my personality. The college helped me come out of my comfort zone and it made me smarter and more confident.
