Study these topics to crack UPSEE
By: Parakh Mishra
Devise a study plan with the focus on covering all the topics. Manage time during the mock tests to enhance accuracy during the exam.
To prepare for UPSEEE, the candidate should follow the same strategy as they follow for other engineering entrance exams. The difficulty level of UPSEE is moderate. Generally in UPSEEE questions are straight to the point or a bit typical, hence, to prepare for UPSEEE one must go through the key concepts discussed in NCERT textbooks and general board syllabus.
Most of the questions asked in UPSEE are from Class 12 and only a few questions are from Class 11. To understand the level of questions in UPSEE, candidates must focus on practising previous year question papers.

Revision Approach and Study Plan
For a competitive exam like UPSEE, the candidate should focus on the score, not on attempts. In UPSEE, different topics have different weightage so during revision one must first go through the topics with high weightage. Qualifying UPSEEE is not that difficult, however, scoring for a govt. college cut-off is difficult as the number of candidates appearing for this exam is high.
Study Plan should be in devised in such a way that each subject and topic is covered at least twice so that in the last month, the candidate could only focus on revision by solving question banks and previous year solved papers.
Revision Approach: The best way to revise the entire syllabus is to join a crash course offered by different institutes. There is two advantage of Crash Course:
- Revision of Entire Syllabus
- Question-Solving Tips and Tricks
Tips and tricks for last week
In the last week, the candidate should select important/ difficult topic and prepare it well. If most of the topics were already covered then the candidate should take some mock tests or last year papers which are available in both the modes (online/offline) as this would help in preparing for a real scenario.
Managing Class 12 and entrance exam preparation
If the candidate is preparing only for UPSEE then managing board examination would not be a tough task, however, if the candidate is preparing for both, then this might be a little difficult. In UPSEE, most of the questions were asked from basic concepts of Class 11 and 12, hence, preparing for the Class 12 board exam would contribute to the UPSEE preparation too.
The best way to prepare is to focus on NCERT and Class 12 syllabus of CBSE in the first six months of the preparation year and then join coaching and solve previous year question papers till December and then a crash course of 15 days for UPSEE after CBSE Boards.
Tips on time management
There are two types of time management one would help in the entire preparation year and other plays its role in the exam.
For managing time during preparation, candidates have to make a proper study plan in which proper time slot should be allotted to cover all the subjects of Class 12 and entrance exam.
For managing time during the examination, firstly the candidate should focus on the strong section and then move on to the weak section.
Note: There is no negative marking in UPSEE, hence, the candidate should try to attempt all the questions.
