Action taken by ABES Engineering College for tackling the current situation and ensuring that this does not adversely affect your studies.

There are a number of steps that the college administration taking in this pandemic situation like thermal screening, sanitization of the entire campus, hostels, lifts, etc. They are also ensuring that all the basic needs can be available in the campus canteens and that no outside movement can take place.

For common medical problems and fever, they are also providing primary medical facilities. It’s not like that they are only working for college students and staff, they have also allowed Ghaziabad administration for taking their main building as a quarantine and treatment center.

Even in such a situation, all the faculty members are ensuring that all the lectures are delivered to the students through online mode or by uploading videos.

Are there online classes being conducted? If yes, how effective are these? With what frequency are these held? Are they sufficient to cover the designated syllabus?

As per the schedule shared by the college, all the lectures were uploaded on the college portal so that students can go through it and there is also a chat box option available through which students and teachers can discuss the doubts and solutions.

For reference, they also provide some links of NPTEL and video lectures on the same topic so those topics become easy to understand.

Lectures are very effective as it helps in clearing most of the doubts and content provided by them is enough to understand the concept well.

On a daily basis, almost 7 or 8 lectures were uploaded by faculties but on Wednesdays and Saturdays, they drop to 2 or 3. The college administration and faculties have planned the entire online process in such a way that they can monitor almost everything from teachers’ attendance to students’ attendance.

Almost everything in the syllabus is covered during the lecture and the faculty member ensures that all the topics are covered in the video shared by them. They are also taking care of the assignments.

Are your projects or assignments to work on from home? What is the number of online submissions required to take place?

Most of the assignments are work from home and they are to be submitted within the deadline. The student has to solve it and then upload it on Google Classroom. Some of them are short quizzes from the live sessions. On a daily basis, a short assignment is given and there is a weekly assignment too.

After each lecture, there is a short assignment to be submitted which is based on that lecture and when a unit ends, then a complete assignment is to be submitted within 2 days and marks are also awarded for the same.

How is the college making up for any lab/Practical work? If at all?

The college is not able to provide sufficient content to students for practical analysis although faculties are trying their level best by providing YouTube links for practical knowledge. The college administration is working on it and will soon find a solution.

The college is also providing audiobooks and access to library portals. They are also working in collaboration with IITs for video on practical knowledge and software learnings.
