To crack JEE Main, do this in the last week before exam
By: Shaik Dulari Janum
Prepare for JEE Main with dedication and focus. Keep the main points in mind during the preparation such as cover topics and revise, follow a timetable and manage time effectively.
JEE Main is a national level competitive entrance examination conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency) in India for getting admission to various UG courses in National Institute of Technology (NITs) and Indian Institute of Technology (IITs).
Tips & tricks for last week
As there is no shortcut for success, a student should prepare for a prestigious national level examination such as JEE Main from the first year of intermediate itself. Last week tips and tricks are as follows:
- Avoid covering all the topics in the last week as this would result in tension
- In the last week, revise only the notes prepared while learning a subject
- Grab a paper and write all the important formulae of each subject for quick revision
- Practice previous year papers.
- Take as many mock tests as possible to enhance confidence and boost time managing skills
- Eat healthy and sleep well, this would help in to remember all the topics
Tips on managing time properly
Time management is an important factor while preparing for any competitive examination. The students could attain time managing skills by taking as many exams as possible and organising time effectively. Divide the total time into slots for each subject to ease the exam process. Based on my personal experience, I can say that do not spend too much time on a particular question and save time.
High-scoring Topics (Chapters/Preparation Strategy):
The subject-wise scoring topics of JEE Main are as follows:
Mathematics
Algebra (Quadratic Equations), Trigonometry, Analytical geometry, Differential Calculus (Limits-L-Hospital’s Rule), Integral Calculus, Vectors, Matrix & Determinants, and Probability.
Physics
Gravitation, Electrostatics, Electromagnetic Induction, Work Power and Energy, Dimensional Analysis, Heat Transfer, Optics, Waves and Sound.
Chemistry
Periodic Table, Transition Elements and Coordination Geometry, Thermodynamics and Gaseous State, Atomic Structure, Chemical Bonding, Equilibrium, Solid State and Surface Chemistry, Nuclear Chemistry, Mole Concept, Redox Reaction, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Solutions, General Organic Chemistry, Stereochemistry, Hydrocarbon, Alkyl Halides, Carboxylic Acids and their Derivatives, Carbohydrates, Amino Acids and Polymers, Aromatic Compounds.
Revision Approach/Study Plan
Covering and revising all the topics is crucial to prepare of JEE Main. Revision is important to get good results. This year due to COVID-19 the second session of JEE Main has been postponed. This has given more time to students to prepare for JEE Main got more time than expected. Every student should utilise this time for revision.
Class 12& JEE preparation side-by-side
It is not difficult to manage Class 12 and JEE preparations simultaneously as all the topics are the same. Ensure all the main topics are covered during the exam preparation.
