To get admission in NIT Surathkal, students need to get high score in the accepted exams and clear the cutoff. To get in top BTech branches, such as CSE at NIT Surathkal, students need to get at least 4000 or lower rank. Students from the general category must aim to get 3000-3500 rank to have better chance of getting CSE admission. For lower branches, a JEE rank around 9000 - 10000 may get them a seat.

For Anna University undergraduate courses, the minimum eligibility requirement is to pass Class 12 with a minimum aggregate of 45% (40% for SC/ ST candidates).
