What is KARTET?
Karnataka Teacher Eligibility Test (KARTET) is conducted by the Centralized Admission Cell (CAC), Office of the Commissioner of Public Instruction, Bangalore, Karnataka. The main purpose of the KARTET exam is to determine the eligibility of the candidates who want to become Classes 1 to 8 teachers in government schools of Karnataka. There are two papers in the KARTET- Paper 1 and Paper 2. KARTET Paper 1 is for those candidates who aspire to teach at the lower primary level (Classes 1 to 5) while KARTET Paper 2 is for those who aspire to teach at the upper primary level (Classes 6 to 8). KARTET-qualified candidates are awarded the certificate of eligibility which remains valid for life now.

KARTET Eligibility
Karnataka TET eligibility is different for both the papers. The eligibility conditions for Paper 1 and Paper 2 are given below:
KARTET Eligibility for Paper 1: Educational Qualification
- PUC / Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) OR
- PUC / Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in final year or 4th year Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEl.Ed) OR
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education) OR
- Graduation with at least 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)
KARTET Eligibility for Paper 2: Educational Qualification
- Graduation with at least 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) OR
- Graduation with at least 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) OR
- PUC / Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (BEl.Ed) OR

KARTET Age Limit
The candidates applying for the Karnataka TET Exam must be above the age of 18 years. There is no upper age limit for KARTET exam.
