Based on the RPF Constable cut off for CBT, candidates are selected for PET/PST. The Physical Efficiency Test (PET) requires candidates to achieve defined standards in running along with passing both long jump and high jump tests according to their respective gender and category. The Physical Measurement Test (PMT) checks the candidate's height as well as male chest dimensions together with additional RPF standards. During Document Verification (DV) candidates must show their original educational certificates alongside their identity proof along with their category certificates. The final selection list uses scores from CBT and PET/PMT alongside document verification results.

RPF Constable cut off is the minimum qualifying marks that candidates need to secure inorder to qualify the exam and become eligible for the next round of selection process. Candidates need to secure the qualifying marks as well as the cut off marks in the exam.

Appointment of selected candidates is subject to their passing requisite Medical Fitness Test to be conducted by the Railway Administration, final verification of educational and category certificates, verification of character and antecedents of the candidates from the local Administration and successful completion of initial training.

There shall be a maximum of two rounds of PET/PMT. If vacancies of Female and Ex-servicemen are not filled up after second round of PET/PMT, vacant posts will be filled up by Male candidates of respective category. Passing Physical Efficiency Test (PET) is mandatory and the same will be qualifying in nature. No marks are to be awarded.

RPF Constable normalisation is done since the exam is multiple shifts. According to the normalisation process, the marks obtained in the exam are calculated on the basis of an average score of the top one percent of the candidates considering all shifts. The marks are calculated up to five decimal places.

For RPF Constable, a "safe score" varies based on the category and exam difficulty, but aiming for at least 35% for UR, EWS, and OBC-NCL categories and 30% for SC & ST categories is a good starting point to qualify the written exam.
