Close to 30 students lost their internships due to the pandemic: Siddharth, LBSIM

2 mins readUpdated on Apr 24, 2020 10:26 IST

These are first-hand student accounts on how our young population is managing to keep their exam prep or college course work going from the confines of their homes. In case you want to share your lockdown study experience, write to us at publish@shiksha.com.

  • The institute had to close down prematurely due to the escalating situation. COVID19 has been a real thorn for the administration and the students alike. The administration was stuck in between their admission procedure of the new 2020-2022 batch. From the student’s perspective, the end term exams were halted which will continue at a later date, once the situation improves.
  • Since the third trimester got over, there are no classes being conducted as of now. The faculties have discussed the possibility of our institute reopening at a later date than already decided. Even in that scenario, the need for online lectures is not necessary for my purview.
  • The institute has shared many resources with us to keep us productive though. Links to some webinars have also been shared which in my opinion will prove extremely valuable considering the fact that experiential learning can increase by learning from accomplished professionals.
  • As I have mentioned previously, before the situation escalated, the third trimester for LBSIM students was already over. The academic requirements were done with. We were in the middle of our end-term examinations when the institute took the call to halt the exams in between.
  • The institute has tried to keep the students engaged. Multiple learning resource materials have been shared with us. Course plans of the 4th trimester have also been shared in case a student wants to utilize this time and start early preparation.
  • There has been a productive correspondence between the students and the faculties during this tough time period. Our studies and the academics, in general, have been focused upon during such correspondences. Our teachers have been urging us to acquire more skills and increase the chances of being employable.
  • Summer Internships helps a student to go beyond the realms of the classroom and gain insight into the corporate world. Over 150 companies visited the campus and offered opportunities in diverse areas such as Banking and Financial Services, Engineering & Durables, FMCG and IT/ITES amongst others.
  • Close to 30 students lost their internships due to the pandemic. The Summer Internship Cell (SIC) has worked extremely hard to bring about justice and they are very close to succeeding in their endeavor. 12-13 students have been already placed in new companies in various roles.
  • The SIC for the year 2019-2020 has proved its mettle time and again, the members are working extra hours with dedication to place the students who lost their internships.
