IIM Bangalore considers two kinds of CAT scores for MBA admission - Qualifying and Final score. Qualifying CAT score is the minimum sectional and overall CAT score used to shortlist students for the Analytical Writing Test (AWT) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds. Candidates above minimum cutoffs in the sectional percentile ranks, the overall percentile rank and having a positive (greater than zero) raw score in all sections of CAT are considered for the next stage. The final CAT score is cutoffs are the basis of which the candidates are called for final selection after the AWT and PI rounds are over.
IIM Visakhapatnam admission in the PGP/ MBA programme is made through CAT exam and performance of candidates in Personal Interview round. Then comes IIM Calcutta (Kolkata), third among the trio of IIM ABC. It is among the oldest IIMs, in line with the other two oldest IIMs – Ahmedabad and Bangalore. What gives it an edge over the two is the number of seats. It has the highest number of seats among all the IIMs currently and has 233 seats for general category students. This is a big number as compared to other IIMs.
IIM Lucknow features next in the list. It has 211 seats for general category students. The college has fared quite well over a period of three decades. It has some of the best faculty members. After IIM ABC, it is the top choice for students. The college has a lush green campus along with good infrastructure. The placement is top notch and many big firms visit campus to hire candidates.

It is not possible to join IIM Bangalore directly after Class 12 since the institute mostly offers postgraduate and doctoral level programmes in the field of Management.
