On Fees and Eligibility
Q:   What is the CAT cutoff required to get into IIM Bangalore?
A:

IIM Bangalore considers two kinds of CAT scores for MBA admission - Qualifying and Final score. Qualifying CAT score is the minimum sectional and overall CAT score used to shortlist students for the Analytical Writing Test (AWT) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds. Candidates above minimum cutoffs in the sectional percentile ranks, the overall percentile rank and having a positive (greater than zero) raw score in all sections of CAT are considered for the next stage. The final CAT score is cutoffs are the basis of which the candidates are called for final selection after the AWT and PI rounds are over.

Q:   How costly is IIM Bangalore and what is the cost of pursuing E-MBA from IIM-B?
A:

The total tuition fee for Indian Institute of Management Bangalore's E-MBA programme is INR 23 lakh. The fee mentioned here is taken from an unofficial source and is the total tuition fee. Hence, is indicative. For a detailed IIM Bangalore E-MBA fee structure, candidates are advised to contact the admission department of the institute. In addition to the course fee, students are also required to pay application fee charges and exam application charges. Hence, the overall cost that the students bear is comparatively higher. Those students finding IIM Bangalore costly can apply for scholarships provided by the college.

Q:   Is it hard to get a seat in IIM Bangalore?
A:

Yes, IIM Bangalore is one of the toughest business schools to get admission to, and every year, even CAT 99+ percentilers miss out on a call from the institute. IIM Bangalore uses multiple parameters, namely academic performance as well as candidates' scores in CAT/GMAT to select candidates for the PGP programme. IIMB adopts a two-phase selection process and accordingly, these selection criteria are applied in two phases. The first phase of the process is applied to all eligible candidates who appear for CAT to determine candidates to be called for a personal interview (PI). Candidates selected for the PI process will be additionally required to take a Writing Ability Test (WAT).

The best IIM in India, with great industrial exposure.
Placements: Placements were totally amazing, and I was quite satisfied with the placements via IIM Bangalore. Students got the best industrial exposure here in Bangalore. The average package size was 13 LPA, and the maximum package offered was 45 LPA. Internships opportunities were provided to students in their first year itself.
Infrastructure: Best-in-class infrastructure and amazing amenities were provided by the college. The campus life at IIM Bangalore was amazing, with youth fests, fairs, and cultural programs organized by the college on a regular basis. Sports facilities and opportunities were given to students, and the food quality in the mess and canteen was average.
Faculty: Teachers were well-experienced and dedicated to their duties. They were very helpful and polite towards students. Faculty members at IIM Bangalore were selected from top candidates all over India. Their teaching style was relatable to the corporate sector, the curriculum was totally relevant, and the passing percentage was 45%.

Moreover in the institute every year an annual fest was held where students participate in different competitions including debate competitions, dance, and singing. On Admissions
Q:   How can I get admission to IIM Bangalore?
A:

To get admission in IIM Bangalore, studnets are required to fulfil the admission criteria of the desired programme. have a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50% or an equivalent CGPA (45% for candidates belonging to the SC/ST/PwD category). IIM Bangalore admission is completely entrance-based. Admission to the flagship course, i.e., the MBA of IIM Bangalore, is based on a valid score in the CAT exam, followed by a personal interview (PI) and written ability test (What) round. IIM Bangalore offers admission to Indian students via CAT and international students via GMAT/GRE. IIM Bangalore conducts the IIM-B tests for admission to Executive MBA (EPGP) and PhD courses.

Q:   Can an average student get into an IIM?
A:

The answer to this question of whether an average student can get into IIM can be both yes and no depending on the definition of an average student.

  • Based on Academics (Class 10/ Class 12/ Graduation): While a student with average scores in Class 10, Class 12 and graduation with a good CAT score certainly has good chances of getting a call from IIM-A, chances are less for someone with an average CAT score.
  • Based on student category (General or Reserved): While it is tough for a General category average student to grab a seat at IIM due to high score requirements, a reserved category student can get admission being at average scores as well.
  • Based on past work experience, diversity and other factors: Gender and academic diversity is also a factor on which students are shortlisted at IIM. IIMs judge the past academic category based on the degree obtained by the students before MBA and then a weightage is allotted based on that. For Engineers, the percentage for scoring the highest marks is higher as compared with other streams
  • Performance in selection rounds: Once you make it to the final selection rounds, i.e., AWT/PI process, it can be considered a fresh start. At this stage, students can forget their past average-ness but definitely require good grasp over the past subjects as academics-related questions are asked in the interview.

Based on the above factors, it can be considered that while getting into top Management institutes, such as IIM is extremely tough, the past performance, CAT performance, student category and a lot of factors can be the reasons for a student to receive that final call.

Q:   Is it easy to get admission in IIM Bangalore?
A:

Yes, IIM Bangalore admissions are easy for dedicated and hardworking students. The mode of Indian Institute of Management Bangalore Bengaluru course admissions is online. IIM Bangalore admission to various postgraduate and PhD programmes is based on national-level entrance examinations. Commonly asked questions
On Comparisons
Q:   Is IIM Bangalore as good as IIM Ahmedabad?
A:

IIM Ahmedabad is viewed as being superior to the one in Bengaluru, which is something distinctive that clearly stands out in many of these debates. And given how much the alumni network and brand value matter, IIM Ahmedabad should be the school of choice since it will provide you with more long-term advantages. This single point leads to the recommendation to select option A.

However, I really doubt that it should be given much weight in comparison or that this particular moment should stand alone as a turning point. Evidently, Ahmedabad was founded prior to Bangalore, and Bangalore began to prioritize privates after the mid-80s. Even so, it may give the more established Iims a tough fight. Currently, Ahmedabad continues to spend a colossal amount of money on branding and marketing. Following Ahmedabad, although considerably behind it, is IIM Bangalore. In comparison to IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Calcutta could be thought of as insignificant. The facebook page for IIM Ahmedabad, which has a large number of likes and engages in a lot of online advertising, is a good example of this. Consequently, it is able to preserve that impression. Also intriguingly, Ahmedabad is ranked higher than Bangalore in terms of academic and employer perception in the QS rankings for the MIM category (where the flagship PGP in Management is taken into account). However, because to Bangalore's superior scores in all other categories, Bangalore outranks Ahmedabad in the overall rankings.

Q:   What makes CAT tougher than other MBA entrance exams?
A:

Common Admission Test or CAT is a national-level management aptitude test conducted by IIM for admission to MBA. Each year, over 2.3 Lacs candidates take the CAT exam, which is accepted by the IIMs and top MBA colleges in India. It is important to apply strict selection criteria to identify the top candidates among them. That's why, the CAT exam is tougher than other MBA entrance exams. Even though the syllabus of CAT is the same as that of other MBA entrance exams, the question paper set by the IIM faculty always has tough questions. Moreover, CAT has a sectional time limit for each section which is not there in any other exam except XAT.

Q:   Is IIM Bangalore affordable than IIM Trichy?
A:

IIM Bangalore and IIM Trichy both are NIRF ranked Management colleges of India. The fee of IIMs differs from one another. Below is the fee comparison of IIM Bangalore with IIM Trichy:

IIMsTotal Tuition Fee
IIM Bangalore MBAINR 12.5 Lacs - INR 24.5 lakh
