On May 9, 2014, Manjunath, a film showing the life and times of a brave soul will feature at a cinema hall near you and our advice is that you do not miss it at any cost. Why we say so? For starters, the film brings to celluloid – Manjunath Shanmugam, an IIM Lucknow (2003 batch) alumnus who worked as a sales officer at Indian Oil Corporation and always stood for what was right. In a time and age where we keep cribbing about all the prevalent corruption around us, this man stood up against it and what he got in return were six bullets.

The movie has created a rage on social media, especially, Twitter. Some of the tweets on Manjunath, are listed below.

Affectionately referred to as ‘Machan’ at IIM Lucknow, Manjunath on November 19, 2005 was murdered by the oil mafia in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri district for getting two petrol stations sealed because they were selling adulterated fuel.

Manjunath’s murder made headlines in 2005 and many students from educational institutes such as the IIMs, IITs and the likes set up ‘The Manjunath Shanmugam Trust’ to help provide students a platform where they can know their rights, seek support as well as award person(s)/institutions working to uphold truth and integrity.

Written and directed by Sandeep A Varma, Manjunath – Idiot tha Saala, is expected to have some brilliant performances from Seema Biswas who plays Manjunath’s mother, whereas, Divya Datta (plays Anjali Mulathi) and Gireesh Sahdev play the main trustees of Manjunath Shanmugam Trust.

We hope that you definitely catch up with this movie when it hits the theatres. Till then, watch a preview of Manjunath – Idiot tha Saala.
