Studying at VESIM and growing every day: Riya Srivastava
In school, after 10th, when we had to choose our subject specialization, I opted for Pure Science because it would open various paths for me in the future and would help in clearing entrance exams.
After graduation, for higher studies, I wanted to do MBA, for which I gave CAT and MAH CET exam. I applied to various colleges, one of which was Vivekanand Education Society Institute of Management. VESIM, because of its course structure and feasible fee structure, encouraged me to opt for the college. The course curriculum matches the fees standard as it truly uplifts one’s personality and knowledge. The course curriculum is regularly upgraded to meet the industry standards. There are four specializations offered by the college, one of them includes international program in management. The fees can be paid semester-wise and using different modes. Also, when I visited the college for the first time for the GD-PI round, I was impressed with the well-organized and disciplined work culture of the place. The faculty members whom we came across were very kind and cooperating. The ambience of the college was something that impressed me even more. It was quite near to my residential location, which made me take admission in VESIM.
There was also a college hostel and mess which is quite decent and the food served is quite good. The faculty members are highly educated. They take lots of responsibility in making the students industry-ready. Moreover, the college is known for value education and discipline.
Once I decided to do MBA, I started targeting colleges and entrance exams. I prepared for the exams through Times coaching as well as through online references and YouTube channels. I gave MAH CET entrance exam. I applied to colleges like ITM and VESIM and got a call from both for their GD-PI rounds. I appeared for the same. Both of the colleges had almost the same procedure for GDPI. The first round was group discussion where for each slot, ten students were called and a round table discussion started on a current topic. This was followed by personal interview which was conducted by the teaching staff of VESIM. They asked questions regarding the past academic records, hobbies, and some general knowledge questions. The selected students received mail regarding their selection and admission process.
The time at the college is spent in lots of practical learning combined with theory during lectures. We are given assignments to prepare our presentations relevant to the topics taught to us. There are lots of group projects given to us. Marks are credited for the same. After classroom lessons, we engage ourselves in various college activities, being part of different activity cells. We get to learn a lot being part of these cells. We also participate in various intra and inter college fests and competitions such as GK quiz and article writing as well as competitions related to specializations, which are conducted frequently to boost the morale of students in VESIM. There are two exams every semester ? one mid-term and one end-term exam. Apart from this, marks are credited for regular attendance and presentations. There is a games’ room where we play carrom and table tennis. Then there is a library where one can spend time reading newspaper and magazines. There are weekly seminars from great industrialists who are sources of great inspiration to all of us. There are alumni meets where the alumni of our college visit us regularly to impart us industry knowledge. We have a canteen where hygienic food is served and we go there to have our lunch.
There are various important days celebrated at the college followed by sports days, etc. Students can take part in organizing as well as participating in various events of the college.
