IIM Calcutta is well-known not only for being the oldest IIM but also for its ROI.

Established IIM Calcutta (also known as IIM Kolkata) was the first institution founded under the IIM tradition in 1961. The institute provides students with postgraduate, doctoral, and executive programs, the most prominent of which is the MBA (or PGPM). Over the years, IIM Calcutta has collaborated with over 40 top B-schools in North and South America, Europe, Australia, and Asia, including Bocconi University in Italy, Copenhagen Management School in Denmark, and Ivey Business School in Canada. As part of its curriculum, it also offers an International Student Exchange Program. It has established itself as the recruiter's first choice across all profiles, including Investment Banking, Operations, Consulting, Marketing, General Management, and Information Systems. Continuing this pattern, it has a 100% placement record every year.

Salary during IIM Calcutta Placements

Since its inception, the institute has maintained its reputation as one of the greatest B-Schools in India. IIM-C is well-known not only for being the oldest IIM but also for its ROI. The average salary package for an MBA program typically exceeds INR 25 LPA.

IIM Calcutta has completed its 57th batch of placements with 640 offers. A total of 192 recruiters took part in the 2022 placement campaign. Amazon, Flipkart, and Microsoft were among the top recruiters. Recruiters came from a variety of industries, including Consulting, Finance, Product Management, and General Management. The Consulting sector employed the greatest number of students (51.2%). During the placement drive, the top 5% of students received an average package of INR 64.99 LPA, while the average package was INR 34.2 LPA and the median package was INR 31 LPA.

IIM Calcutta placement 2023-24 was concluded with a 100% placement record. The highest package offered in the placement drive stood at INR 1.2 crore per annum. Thus, students after MBA from IIM Calcutta can accept a good placement drive. However, the placement offered changes every year based on the merit of the participants and upon the participating companies.

IIM Calcutta also finished their PGDBA Placements for the 2022 batch, with the highest remuneration offered being INR 42.5 LPA. Students earned an average of INR 29.71 LPA and a median of INR 28 LPA.

The institute has recently completed the summer internship placement campaign for 2024. 540 internship offers were made to 470 students. The average monthly compensation was INR 2.59 lakhs, and the median monthly stipend was INR 2 lakhs. The major functions in which students were placed were Finance and Consulting.

The batch strength for the 2022-2024 batch is 280. This includes 210 students in the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP), 10-15 students in the Fellow Programme in Management FPM and 55 students in the Lateral Entry (LE) programme.
