TISSNET 2017, the common entrance test conducted by Tata Institute of Social Sciences, was conducted today in various cities across India. The question paper, this year was easy for the test-takers save for one wrong question. Here’s an in-depth analysis of TISSNET 2017 exam by MBA expert Tarun Malik, Edmyt.
A good boost before XAT 2017!
TISSNET 2017 was certainly the easiest TISSNET in the last 4 years; quite close to the one held a few years ago, in which the cut off for MA in HE (general category) was 89. In fact, all the sections were easy to very easy.

One question in Quantitative/Reasoning/Data Interpretation was incorrect, which is why the scoring for this section, most probably, may be done on 29 questions. Most of the students should be able to score 28-29 on this section. Possibly, two questions in this section might pose a challenge: one on the number of rectangles and the other on expenditure/profit/sales.
In Verbal Ability, most of the students should be able to score 28-29, or even 30 as there were just two questions in this section that could pose a challenge: the first on polyglot (especially with one of the options as polymath), and the second on "no sooner did the bell ring"
Thus, the deciding factor for TISSNET 2017 is the students’ performance in the GK section, as has usually been the case with this paper. This section was quite smooth except for a few beamers: Aadhe Adhure, Minimum Wages Act, etc. A well-prepared student could easily score 34-35 in this section. Since not many MBA aspirants are well prepared for GK, a score of 30-32 should keep one in the race.
With no negative marking TISSNET 2017, the ideal number of questions attempted should be 100! The overall cut-off for General category, for MA in HR, should be 85-87.
All the best for XAT 2017!
