Placements: Data analytics is gaining popularity as the most important trend that businesses are looking for. PGDM - BDA is an amalgamation of management and in-demand analytical skills. The placements have been extremely promising for a relatively new course. The major recruiters of our course are from the banking industry. The USP of GIM - Big Data Analytics is the 5-month summer internship program helping students gain hands-on industry experience on analytical tools.
Infrastructure: I would rate the college 10/10 in terms of infrastructure. Labs are equipped with powerful analytical tools that are accessible 24X7 by students. The campus is lush green and is Wi-Fi enabled throughout. Classrooms are spacious and air-conditioned. The mess offers a variety of dishes both Continental/Indian and is maintained by a student-driven health club. Medical assistance is available 24X7 for the students.
Faculty: Faculty members are very good, with rich experience in the relevant field. Visiting faculty are industry leaders. They visit the campus and help students gain hands-on knowledge of the current industry trends. The course curriculum is carefully laid out keeping in mind the industry needs. Students are given training in SAS by industry professionals.
Other: I opted for this course because data is the new trend. Big data analytics is one of the most in-demand career paths today. The need to learn analytics is at its peak and PGDM-BDA is one of the top colleges offering a full-time program with good placements and a great course structure. Apart from this, the Goa Institute of Management has been known for being extremely diverse and student-driven. For most students, the 2 years of MBA is not just a degree but a complete personality development experience.

It is one of the best colleges for data science and analytics enthusiasts.
Placements: PGDM in big data analytics programme was started in 2018. Within 3 years, our college is rated among the top 3 colleges by Analytics Insight, MBA Universe, Outlook and many other rating platforms. Even though it is a new programme with a batch strength of above 100 students, it is still providing 100% placements and doing better every year. The highest salary package offered for SIP was 1.2 LPA, while in final placements, it was 21.6 LPA. The average stipend offered for the summer internship was Rs. 40,000 per month, and the average salary package offered was 11.7 LPA. Major roles offered here were data scientist, data analyst, business analyst and also other roles by companies which visit here for recruitment.
Infrastructure: If you like the environment and embrace peace, then Goa Institute of Management is a perfect place. It is surrounded by serene beauty, mountains and lovely weather. The infrastructure here is very good. Every facility like gym, parking areas, shops, nice and tidy hostels are available within the campus.
Faculty: All professors here are well qualified and have a lot of industry exposure. The course curriculum is mainly case-based and also provides practical aspects, which makes it easy to understand difficult concepts. The curriculum is designed in such a way that non-technical background students can also understand concepts easily and do well in their studies.
Other: The main reason for me to join this college is its increasing demand for Big Data Analytics programme. Moreover, our college ranking is increased from 49 to 35 in NIRF, and also it has increased exposure to students. A lot of events are organised here, and every festival is celebrated with diverse students. The diversity in GIM is one of the things to consider.

Big Data is a very niche course. GIM will be one of few colleges offering this course. So, by the time a student graduates in 2020, there will be a huge scope for the course.
