The ninth batch features 32 participants from across the country, including individuals from the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu, led by Director Professor B S Sahay, in collaboration with the Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce (DICCI) and under the aegis of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, has officially commenced the ninth batch of its Capacity Building Program on Small Business Development Units (SBDUs). The program, which began on August 12, 2024, at Jagti Campus, marks a significant step in advancing entrepreneurial skills and empowerment.

Diverse Cohort and Key Attendees

The ninth batch features 32 participants from across the country, including individuals from the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The inaugural ceremony was attended by notable figures including Professor Jabir Ali, Dean Academics at IIM Jammu; Dr Mahesh Gadekar, Chairperson of the Centre for Small Business Development Units; Dr Anuja Akhouri, Program Director at IIM Jammu; and Dr Jaganth G, also Program Director at IIM Jammu.

Inaugural Session Highlights

The inaugural session included brief introductions from the participants, who shared insights into their diverse backgrounds and aspirations. This exchange enriched the program's collaborative environment. Dr Anuja Akhouri delivered the vote of thanks and provided an overview of the upcoming sessions designed to benefit the participants.

Additional Attendees and Program Impact

The ceremony was also attended by Dr Naren Karunakaran, Consultant for SBDU, and Dr Vivek Sharma, Chief Innovation Officer at IIM Jammu. The event concluded with the national anthem, symbolizing unity and shared goals. The Small Business Development Unit (SBDU) Team at IIM Jammu coordinated the ceremony.

Program’s Goal and Future Prospects

The Capacity Building Program on Small Business Development Units aims to foster transformative growth by empowering both aspiring and existing entrepreneurs. Through this initiative, IIM Jammu seeks to enable participants to achieve their entrepreneurial ambitions and contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of the nation.
