As per the information bulletin, the upper age limit for the CSIR NET exam should not be more than 30 years as on the first day of the month in which the examination is concluded. CSIR NET 2026 Exam Pattern

The NTA CSIR NET Question Paper is divided into three sections- Part A, B and C. Part 'A' shall be common to all subjects. This part shall be a test containing a maximum of 20 questions of General Aptitude. The candidates shall be required to answer any 15 questions for two marks each. The total marks allocated to this section shall be 30 out of 200.

The CSIR NET Part A consists of General Aptitude questions that assess the candidates’ teaching/research aptitude, reasoning ability, comprehension skills, divergent thinking and general awareness.

The CSIR NET Part B and C consist of questions that are based on the subjects chosen by candidates from the following five subjects - Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Physical Sciences.

CSIR NET 2026 Certificate

The  Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) released the December session certificate for the exam that was conducted on December 18 in five subjects. The authority will also issue the CSIR NET June Certificate 2026 to the candidates who qualified for the NTA CSIR NET exam. CSIR NET Eligibility Criteria 2026 

Eligibility criteria consists of educational qualification, age limit, etc. The basic CSIR NET Eligibility Criteria 2026 that candidates must fulfil are mentioned below:

  • Candidates should have obtained a degree in BTech/BE/BPharma/MBBS/BS (four years)/Integrated BS-MS/MSc with a minimum of 55 per cent marks for General (UR)/General-EWS and OBC (50 per cent for SC/ST, Third gender and PwD) 

CSIR NET Age Limit 2026

  • To apply for CSIR NET JRF, candidates should be a maximum of 30 years of age. The upper age limit is relaxable for up to 5 years for SC/ST/Third gender/PwD/Females and up to 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer).
  • There is no upper age limit to apply for the post of Lectureship (LS)/ Assistant Professor

In the event of any ineligibility being detected by CSIR / UGC / NTA at any stage, their candidature will be cancelled and they shall be liable for legal action.
