B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2025

Good infrastructure and helpful faculty, placements need a boost.
Placements: Placements are average overall, but they depend a lot on the course. For B.Teach and technical courses, chances are better. Companies like TCS, Wipro, and Infosys visit, and packages can go from 3 LPA to 8-10 LPA for top students.
Infrastructure: The university has good infrastructure for my course, with well-equipped laboratories, spacious classrooms, and a library stocked with relevant books. Most academic buildings have Wi-Fi and basic digital facilities to support learning. Hostel rooms are clean, furnished with study tables and cupboards, and provide a safe environment with 24/7 security. The hostel has drinking water, common areas, and a mess for daily meals, though food quality could be improved. Overall, the facilities are adequate and comfortable for both study and stay.
Faculty: Faculty members are well-qualified, many with PhDs or from reputed institutes, and most are approachable. The curriculum is relevant, especially for technical courses, and follows industry standards. Exams are held on time, and the evaluation is fair. Semester pattern is followed, with internal assessment and lab work included.
Other: I am from the B.Tech Mechanical Engineering batch of 2025. I chose this course because I have always been interested in machinery, manufacturing processes, and problem-solving in the engineering field. The best things about my course are the practical-oriented subjects. I wish the course could include more industrial visits, internships, and updated software training to match current industry requirements. The campus has an active academic environment with occasional technical events and cultural programs. The student crowd is diverse and friendly. Scholarships are available for eligible students, and there are opportunities for extracurricular activities like sports and student clubs.

Aliah University, located in Kolkata, offers a B.Tech. program in Mechanical Engineering.
Placements: Aliah University in Kolkata offers decent placement opportunities for its Mechanical Engineering branch, with top recruiters such as Adani Group, Tega, Polyhose, and Sharda Motors. While the average package is around INR 3.8 LPA, the highest package can go up to INR 7.5 LPA. With 100% placement possible and top roles like graduate engineer trainee (GET), Aliah University can be a good choice for Mechanical Engineering students.
Infrastructure: Great institution with modern infrastructure and a supportive faculty. The campus life is enjoyable, with good hostel facilities and extracurricular activities. The university's strong focus on academic excellence makes it an excellent choice for students. It is highly recommended!
Faculty: Aliah University has a knowledgeable and experienced faculty, with a curriculum designed to meet industry needs. The teaching quality is generally good, but it can be inconsistent. Semester exams can be challenging, but with proper preparation, students can succeed. Overall, it is a good institution for academic growth.
Other: Aliah University is a good institution with a knowledgeable faculty and a supportive environment. The campus life is vibrant, with regular events and seminars. While there are areas for improvement, the university provides a solid foundation for academic growth. Overall, it is a great choice for students.

Absolutely Dissatisfied Because of Placements, but Infrastructure and Campus are Beautiful
Placements: About 60% of the 2024 batch were placed in my course. The highest package was 10.7 LPA, the lowest was around 2.5 LPA, whereas the average package offered in my course was 4 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Wipro, Cognizant, TCS, and Rashmi Group. About 30% of students got internships from the 3rd or 4th year onwards in Rashmi Group and TCS. We are taught many computer-based subjects, which help in top roles.
Infrastructure: The facilities are good except for some of them. The overall infrastructure of our course and hostel is average. Wi-Fi is not available in classrooms or the hostel; it is only available in seminar halls and official rooms. Labs are not good enough; they are without AC, and some of them don’t even have enough chairs to sit. Our classrooms are big in space, but they are normal classrooms without AC and smart boards. The library is nice and well-maintained, but again, AC is not in the library. The quality of food is not that bad, but the canteen has nice food. Our college has medical facilities too. In Aliah University, there are physical sports like cricket or football, but no e-games.
Faculty: Only a few teachers are helpful, although they are well-qualified and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is below average. This course is curriculum relevant, and only a few subjects are irrelevant. Somehow, the curriculum makes a student industry-ready, but not in all aspects. Our semester exams are quite tough, and the passing percentage is 35%.
Other: I chose this course because I was a passionate computer student. The best thing about our course is that most of the subjects are computer-based. I wish some of the irrelevant subjects were removed and teachers started teaching students according to the need of the industry; then it would be much better. We have very few events and fests, like once in 6 months. The campus crowd is good. The surroundings of the campus are mostly of companies like TCS and Wipro. We get a scholarship of 60,000 every year.

Aliah University - The dream of many students.
Placements: The placement scenario is good, and around 80% of students are placed through campus placement conducted by different companies. All types of industries visit here, mostly the IT companies, because the campus is situated in the IT hub area of the city.
Infrastructure: This university has very good infrastructure; you can also say that it has mind-blowing infrastructure. Whether you talk about classrooms, teaching through digital boards, good laboratory facilities, or the hostel facility, it feels like you are staying in a five-star hotel.
Faculty: Teachers or professors of Aliah University are well qualified and have a very wide knowledge of their respective subjects. They are humble with the students and try to clarify all doubts related to the subjects. Sometimes they can also help you despite the academic curriculum.

Very satisfied with the facilities, faculty members, and campus.
Placements: 1.6% of students got placed in the year 2024. The highest package is 5.2 LPA, and the lowest is 3 LPA. Biocon, Cipla, and Syngene are top recruiting companies. Approximately 25% of students got internships at Patanjali, DRDO, and NCBS. Roles offered are botanist, plant pathologist, greenhouse and agricultural manager.
Infrastructure: It has big, beautiful, and clean campus. Campus is smoke free and eco-friendly. Classrooms are comfortable, and Wi-Fi is available. Library is the best space for students to revise or work during off period. It also has centralized air-conditioning. Hostels are clean, and rooms are pretty well spaced as well. Quality of food in canteen and mess is really good. Cooking conditions are very hygienic.
Faculty: Professors are very friendly and knowledgeable. Their guidance has helped me a lot. They are highly qualified as well. They also prepare us for the challenges outside academic life. Semester exams are moderate and fair overall. I feel confident now. Pass percentage is 98%.
Other: I chose this course to follow my interest in plant life and botany. I wish there were better recruitment. The campus is in the IT hub of Kolkata so connectivity is top-tier.

Absolutely dissatisfied because of placement, but really good in value for money
Placements: About 70% of students were placed in my course. The highest and lowest average package offered was 12 LPA and 3 LPA respectively l, and the average package was about 4.5 LPA. Amazon, Cognizant and TCS are some of the top recruiting companies. About 25% of students were placed in top companies
Infrastructure: Classrooms doesn't have ac or smart board. Library doesn't have ac but infrastructure is good. Labs also doesn't have any action, and infrastructure is not that well. The quality of food available in hostel is not that bad. Whereas the canteen's food is nice. Sports and games like cricket and football are available, but there is no e-games available.
Faculty: The teachers are well qualified but they are not helpful and can't deliver their knowledge effectively. The curriculum is mostly irrelevant in initial years but relevant in final years. But that relevancy is not according to industry. The semester exams are quite difficult, but studying a month before exams , one can easily pass. The passing percentage is 35%.
Other: I chose this course because it is the most demanding. Our course have the best placements. The things that can be better is to modify the curriculum according to industry. The fees is about 70000 for the whole course. There is very less fests occurring in college. We get about 60000 per year as scholarship.
