Where Maritime Affairs Meet Global Challenges

Organised by the Centre for International Law and Policy (CILP), School of Legal Studies, REVA University, in collaboration with Indian Maritime University, Chennai, and supported by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), the conference will focus on “Maritime Policy, Governance and Sustainability.” The three-day event will bring together academics, researchers, policymakers, legal professionals, industry experts and students to examine the changing maritime landscape.

Beyond Ships and Shipping

Maritime affairs today go far beyond ports, vessels and trade routes. Developments in geopolitics, national security, climate change, emerging technologies and international law are reshaping the sector. The conference will explore themes including maritime security and geopolitics, environmental sustainability, climate change, the blue economy, maritime trade and logistics, maritime law and dispute resolution, technology in maritime operations, and emerging challenges in global maritime governance.

Building a Sustainable Blue Economy

One of the important conversations will centre on the blue economy and the responsible use of ocean resources. With growing economic and strategic interest in the maritime domain, countries face the challenge of encouraging growth while protecting marine ecosystems and addressing climate concerns. The conference provides a platform to examine how effective policies, legal frameworks and innovative approaches can contribute to a more sustainable maritime future.

A Platform for Students and Researchers

For students, the conference offers an opportunity to engage with issues that extend beyond the classroom. Learners from law, international relations, public policy and allied disciplines can gain perspectives from practitioners and experts working with contemporary maritime challenges. Researchers and professionals will also have a platform to exchange ideas, present perspectives and explore emerging areas of research and collaboration.

Connecting Different Perspectives

The maritime sector brings together law, economics, technology, diplomacy, security and environmental policy. By bringing diverse voices together, the conference aims to encourage a more comprehensive understanding of these interconnected areas. For REVA University, the event reflects its commitment to creating opportunities where academic learning, research and real-world challenges come together.

Sir M. Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology (SirMVIT) offers a traditional engineering environment backed by an older, established legacy.

On the other side, REVA University has better modern infrastructure, an updated  syllabus and more dynamic campus placements.
