Brainware University BOPTM Eligibility & Highlights 2026

Bachelor of Optometry is a three-year programme with one-year internship. BOPTM (lateral entry) is also offered for a duration of two-year with one-year internship. Find below BOPTM and BOPTM (LE) eligibility, selection criteria and total fee:

BOPTM

Eligibility criteria: A pass in Class 12 examination with a minimum of 55% aggregate or equivalent (50% aggregate for reserved category) and individual pass marks in both theory and practical in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. The upper age limit is 40 as on December 31 of the admission year.

Brainware University in reality.

Placements: Brainware University provides a good number of placements but the increasing number of students seeking admission is becoming a concern. The number of companies hiring remains the same. Some of the hiring companies include Lenskart, Titan Eye Plus, Trinetralayam Hospital, Sankar e vaban and Tomluk Government Hospital.

Infrastructure: My department is quite strict scheduling classes from 9 AM to 6 PM almost every day with a one-hour lunch break. The college provides a clinic where students can handle patients, offering direct exposure. Yet, currently, only university students visit the clinic. Students can use almost every instrument. Choosing optometry requires dedicated study from proper books not just relying on presentations. Referencing is essential when writing answers. Formal attire is mandatory from the first year.

Faculty: New faculty members are joining, and hopefully, they will bring positive changes. Our coordinator has changed, and they are making efforts to improve things. Exams are challenging with no chances of cheating. Proper study is crucial for internal exams, vivas, and semester exams. Questions are not straightforward. They often involve case studies requiring students to explain patient management. This is particularly true for the Optometry department. A Bachelor of Optometry allows graduates to open their own clinics, work in hospitals or optical stores, serve as community optometrists or become college professors after completing a master's degree. The passing score is 16 (total) out of 40 in internals and 24 in the semester exams.

Other: Many events happens in the university. You just have to stay alert. Particular marks are given for extracurricular activities which increases the marks of our overall result.

I am the student at Brainware University.

Placements: Our college placement is really good. Last year, 90 percent of students were placed in many companies for this course. The highest salary package is 10 lakhs per annum. And the lowest salary package is 3 lakhs per annum. Top-recruited companies visited our campus.

Infrastructure: Our college infrastructure is really awesome. The college has provided many facilities, like a play ground, a library, and a parking area. The college campus is clean and hygienic. The classroom is also clean. Our campus is fully Wi-Fi-enabled. The college had to provide boys and girls hostels.

Faculty: Our university teachers are well educated. They completed there master's at a top-reputed university. Their teaching quality is very unique. Teachers are very helpful. In this course, the curriculum is up-to-date. Colleges are very strict in semester exams; the pass percentage will be 98%. They make our job ready.

Other: I love that the campus crowd is really remarkable.

Review of Brainware University.

Placements: To be honest it is a new campus and there is no special placement for the student. Placement is merit basis. If you read then you must avail placement don't worry about this. The internship is just for three months. If you give your best during internship time it will be benefitted for you.

Infrastructure: They have no hostel in our college and no Wi-Fi. The lab is a little bit okay. The library is too small. The classroom is quite good. If you are admitted here you must be in mess to run out your study. It is your turn to choose a hostel.

Faculty: To be honest, teachers are very okay. They are very highly educated so don't faces problem about study. The semester exam is good, a little tough. They teach you but you are the learner so you decide to take admitted here or not. The choice is yours.

Other: This course is mostly a market demandable course. For that, I chose this course. Our college organised an annual fest and also some departmental programs.

It is a good university in west Bengal.

Placements: Our university collaborated with LV Prasad Eye Hospital, Shankar Netralay Eye Hospital, Dr. Agarwal Eye Hospital, Odisha Eye Hospital, Spectrum Eye Hospital, etc. Almost 89% of students got internships from our course, and many companies like Lenskart, Titan Eye Plus, Raybans, etc.

Infrastructure: Our department is better than other departments. Our department has well-organised and decorated modern laboratories, and the electricity supply is very good. Wi-Fi is available. Our library is vast, and the books are good. The quality of food is good and always available in the mess and canteen. The medical facilities are good.

Faculty: Our teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. At our university, the teaching quality is good. At our university, many curriculum-relevant webinars and workshops are conducted. Fresher's, World Optometry day, world sight day, world health care day, world cancer day, etc. are also celebrated here.

It has a green environment campus. All teachers are well-educated and provide good laboratory.

Placements: Placements at Brainware University are good, and the placements team is very helpful. Students can also get placements at LV Prasad Eye Institute, Odisha Eye Hospital, and Susrut Eye Foundation.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good because students will get all the necessary things in our college like a hostel, library, gym, food court, seminar hall, laboratory equipment, playground, smart class, etc.

Faculty: Faculty members are well educated, and also they are very friendly. Students will get them anytime. They guide students in every step of their learning. They all are experts in their fields.

Other: Optometry is consistently chosen as one of the best jobs in the world. The optometrists can have flexible schedules and can easily maintain work and life balance. Their main job role is to diagnose the patients for eye problems, and prescribe correct spectacles or lenses.

Overall, Brainware University campus is very nice and green.

Placements: About 98% of students are placed every year from our Brainware University. This course is completed at a very low package. About 100% of students got internships from the course. Students are placed in LV Prasad, Sankar Netralay, Odisha Eye Hospital, and Spectra Eye Hospital.

Infrastructure: In our Brainware University, various types of courses are available. B. Optometry, BPA BMRIT, etc., are under the Allied health science department. Every classroom is an air-conditioned room. Library service is available. Hostels are also available for boys and girls.

Faculty: Faculty members at Brainware University are very helpful and approachable. All are knowledgeable. Their teaching procedure is so scientific and nice way. Exam guards are very strict. About 99% of students pass every year from the university. Every year, 95% of students get placed.
