On Feb 15, 2026, the JAM examination was held in two shifts - the forenoon shift from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, and the afternoon shift from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

IIT JAM 2026 Exam Day Guidelines
The following points bring the Dos and Don’ts to be followed on the day of IIT JAM 2026 exam.
- Reach the exam centre 90 minutes before the scheduled time for the test commencement.
- Students were permitted to enter the exam hall 40 minutes before the test, and after candidate registration and photo capture, they were allowed to log in 20 minutes before the test and go through the instructions.
- Take the seat assigned to your Roll Number and no other seat or centre, which might lead to the cancellation of your candidature.
- Not allowed to enter the test centre 30 minutes after the start of the exam.
- Students are not allowed to leave the centre before the exam ends.
- During the examination, a virtual scientific calculator is available on the computer screen.
- A scribble pad is provided for rough work. Write your name and registration number before using it and return it to the invigilator at the end of the exam. Additional scribble pads may be obtained after returning the previous pad.
Things Prohibited at IIT JAM 2026 Exam Centre
The following items are barred from being carried to the exam centre:
- Books, copies or papers of any kind.
- Mobile phones, calculators, watches or any other electronic or digital devices.
- Bags or wallets.
The exam authorities also mentioned that there would not be any place to keep candidates’ personal belongings; you should ideally not carry any personal belongings, except the permitted items, inside the exam hall.

Your Class 12 marks does not matter for admission at IIT Goa for the MSc courses. For admission at this IIT for the MSc programme, you would need to first have a Bachelors degree with at least 55% marks for the General and OBC categories (50% marks for the SC, ST and PWD categories).
