Theatre Department in HNBGU (Srinagar, Uttarakhand).

Placements: There are no provisions for scholarships or financial aid for students here. However, there is some arrangement for campus employment. The theatre department has a lot of responsibility in every show, and some financial help is also provided to the students. Placements are very few. If I talk about other departments like Mass Communication, they are still present, like Amar Ujala, Dainik Jagran, etc.

Infrastructure: Let's talk about the course fees. It is very low, around Rs 2600 per year. This is a central university, and the course fees here do not increase quickly, which is very good for students. There is better connectivity of Wi-Fi, classrooms, and library. The good thing is that the college campus is very big and clean. Greenery is well maintained in the college campus, and there are many fests in the college. The Horticulture and Agriculture Department works very well; various types of trees and plants can be seen here. (Srinagar) It is very hot in the area where this campus is located. The number of hostels is very few; not everyone gets a hostel here. About 90 percent of students have to live outside. There is a huge lack of transportation, and most importantly, the mess food is very bad.

Faculty: The reason behind taking this course was that the folks of Uttarakhand are taught very well here. I was already doing theatre, but after coming here, I got a very good knowledge of theatre literature. I have done many plays here, and the most important thing is that the folk dramas of Uttarakhand are performed very well here. I have seen that many colleges do not have their own auditorium, but the theatre department here has its own auditorium, which is a very good facility for the students. Two faculty members of our theatre department are Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardees.

Other: Many theatre festivals are organised here by the Theatre Department. And the most important annual event of this university, in which the theatre department wins every year. The theatre department has its own library, which has more than 3000 books, which is a very good thing for the students here. In our department, students can rehearse in the auditorium with lights and sounds, which is a very good thing. Almost all the games are available for students to play here, and most importantly, gym facilities are also available here.
