BCom at Himachal Pradesh University is offered as a three-year BCom programme through the Department of Evening Studies and various affiliated colleges. The university also offers the BCom programme in correspondence mode through International Centre for Distance Education and Open Learning. The BCom programme is spread across six semesters. They have smart classrooms, labs, and a library.

Placements: There are around 200 classmates in my classroom. There are more students in other courses. There is no record of internships and recruitment in my college. They are talking about launching a new course (AEDP) in college, but its strength is too low.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good, as they have what the basic premise requires, like smart classrooms, library, and labs. They organise a lot of extra activities like matches and competitions. A full sports tournament is about to happen here within the days.

Faculty: Teachers teach according to the syllabus. I am a fresher, so I still have time to write my first-semester exam.

Other: I actually come from a commerce background, so I was referred to choose the B.Com. There is too much crowd. The campus is good. I think that the recruitment and exposure to this college will be the best favour.

The faculty is good, however, skill development should be provided

Placements: Government College Karsog only provides a degree of B.Com. No one got placed in my course, and none of the companies recruited students from my college. No one got an internship from my course because my course wasn't updated, and no practical knowledge was provided to the students. Neither the course nor the college focused on the holistic development of the students. My college was substandard and only cared about syllabus completion so that students would be able to pass the exams.

Infrastructure: As I've mentioned, the college provided few facilities. It was substandard, and the infrastructure was poor. There was a constant shortage of water in the washrooms, and they smelled awful. Classrooms were average. Poor quality Wi-Fi was only available in the library, and the computer lab's computers were non-functional. I can't comment on the hostels as I live at home. However, I can say the canteen food was good, as I've tried it myself.

Faculty: Teachers were good, they were helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. And the teaching quality was also quite good. I don't think this course curriculum is relevant and would help me in any way in the future. No, it doesn't make the students industry-ready. The curriculum should focus on practical knowledge and skill development for students. Semester exams don't seem difficult if one studies, as preparation helps identify key areas, and teachers also guide students on how to prepare. The passing percentage was 25%.

Other: I chose this course out of confusion about what to pursue after 12th grade. I'd advise other students considering this course to be clear about their goals. They should prepare for competitive exams concurrently, take a computer course, and focus on enhancing their practical knowledge and skills. Improvements needed include updating the syllabus to provide more practical knowledge, such as computerized accounting and real financial statement analysis, focusing on improving communication skills, and offering internships.

Nice college with nice campus.

Placements: Majorly the college does not provide much placements as it is a government college. Some students got placed on their own in local companies and companies within Himachal some went to Shimla for jobs as well. Internships are not a part of academics so it does not happen.

Infrastructure: Infrastructure is good in the college. Labs, classroom, and washrooms are available. Everything is neat and clean. Hostel is also there but you do not adopt for hostel. But still the student feedback is good about the food. The staff and canteen food are also good. Many sports and games also used to happen which made the college more happening.

Faculty: Teachers are helpful. They are highly qualified and highly knowledgeable. Course curriculum is very relevant. It makes the students industry-ready. Semester exams are from average to difficult. The pass percentage is 80%, and most of the students pass.

The college is good. Staff members are great and teachers are very knowledgeable.

Placements: The percentage of students who get placed is more than 60%. It is a basic course for graduation in commerce. It gives banking or accountant jobs. There are many internships in college, and it gives internships to 85% or above students. Many companies recruit students from the college.

Infrastructure: The quality is simple. Good basic items and gadgets are available in courses. Labs are also clean and safe. Classrooms are good and well-maintained. The library has good books, and all types of books are available.

Faculty: Teachers are very good, helpful, and knowledgeable. Exams are a little difficult but not that much. Teachers are also very kind and supportive. We need 25% to pass exams and that is good.

Other: It is easy to get banking jobs and knowledge about economics, so I chose it.

Placements: There are no placements in this college ever. My 2 elder siblings have studied and they also did not get any placement. Also, there are no internship programs. 0% of students will be placed. No companies visit the campus as there are no industries in Shimla.

Infrastructure: We have old classrooms which are decent enough for the traditional way of teaching. There are no smart boards for the first year. We have a library which is a good enough place to study. The college has a decent cafeteria where you can get meals and beverages. Also, there is a playground for basketball and volleyball. We have an indoor court.

Faculty: The academic curriculum and consistency of this college are very well. Teachers are good and highly qualified. Their teaching is great. The B.Com course has very practical subjects. Exams are held twice which are mid-terms and finals. They take place on a very regular date which is approachable.

Other: The college has a good curriculum. Activities and functions are organised regularly. There are a vast number of clubs here like NCC, NSS, etc. It's good for everything except it has no placements. But you can have a good college life which is peaceful and decently productive.

Good experience in the college with a good environment.

Placements: I have completed my B.Com, but there was no placement cell for B.Com in colleges of Himachal Pradesh, and no student was recruited in our course. E-commerce, Marketing, Accounts, Business Management, Economics, Corporate Governance, and Auditing are the roles offered in my course.

Infrastructure: The classrooms were well-furnished with few availabilities of labs. There were plenty of books available in the library along with the newspapers. Wi-Fi was also there for students. The canteen was good and hygienic but without much availability of a variety of foods. And also there were facilities for sports stuff but not very much.

Faculty: The faculty was obviously well-qualified and quite supportive of students. They also help students if there are any kind of personal problems with students. But again, there was not much practical knowledge delivered to students, which may be a hindrance for students who want to go into industry.

Other: The reason for selecting B.Com was my keen interest in accounts, business, and commerce. There must be improvements in practical aspects of the field, and no doubt there were many events organized by the colleges.
