IUST BTech in Mechanical Engineering curriculum is spread over a period of four years. It follows a semester pattern, with eight semester in total. IUST Awantipora accepts JEE Main (Paper 1) scores for admission to its BTech courses (except in BTech in Food Technology. These entrance exams are conducted by the NTA. The exact exam dates vary yearly. JEE Main (Paper 1) is usually conducted in January every year.

For admission to BTech in Food Technology, the university accepts CUET UG (relevant subject) scores. CUET UG is usually conducted around May - June every year.

IUST Awantipora fee structure for the four-year BTech programme includes tuition fees, admission fees and security deposit. The admission fee and security deposit are payable only once, at admission. IUST Awantipora and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) are well-known universities offering full-time BTech courses in Jammu & Kashmir. The tuition fees for IUST Awantipora BTech courses range between INR 1.8 Lacs and INR 2.5 lakh. On the other hand, the BTech fees at SMVDU range between INR 3.6 Lacs and INR 5.6 Lakh. Comparing the two, IUST Awantipora seems to be the more affordable option for pursuing a BTech. The mentioned fees are sourced from the official websites of the universities. IUST Awantipora Diploma admission is granted to applicants who fulfil the eligibility and selection criteria specified by the university. To be eligible for admission, applicants must have completed Class 10/Class 12 (for Lateral Entry) with the required minimum aggregate. Hence, it can be said that the candidates who have appeared or are appearing for the Class 10/Class 12 exam in the current year can apply for admission. A 'Declaration for Result Awaited Candidates' must be filled by candidates applying before their final results are declared.

IUST Awantipora Diploma admission is subject to the fulfilment of the preset eligibility and selection criteria. The eligibility criteria for Diploma admission is for the candidates to have passed Class 10 with the minimum required aggregate (35%) and relevant subjects. Such candidates are required to appear for the University Entrance Test to be considered for seat allocation. Hence, getting a direct admission to the Diploma courses of IUST Awantipora may not be possible.

National Testing Agency (NTA) will announce the CUET 2025 exam date anytime soon at nta.ac.in. It is expected that CUET UG 2025 exam will be held in May/June. The exam will be conducted in multiple slots each day. The number of CUET exam slots will depend upon the number of candidates registered for the exam.
