JISU Organises ‘YES’  Workshop

April 16, 2024: A "Youth Empowerment & Skills" (YES) workshop was arranged by JIS University in collaboration with "Art of Living." Through yoga, meditation, Sudarshan Kriya, and engaging group activities, the four-day workshop aimed to increase participants' confidence as well as their clarity, purpose, and inspiration.

The advantages of rhythmic breathing exercises called Sudarshan Kriya, as well as engaging group activities, yoga, and meditation, were taught to the students. They could encourage social, mental, emotional, and physical well-being with the aid of these practices.

A group of experts led by Dr. Tanusree Chakraborty (Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Professor at IIT Delhi), Dr. Banani Chakraborty (Ph.D. in Biochemistry, DNA Nano Scientist at IISC Bangalore), and Dr. Subinoy Das (Ph.D. in Physics, Scientist at IIA Bangalore) organized the workshop.

GNIT Organises EUPHONIOUSXZYZZVA 2K24

April 5, 2024: EUPHONIOUSXZYZZVA 2K24, an inter-institutional cultural competition and GNIT Cultural Fest, was organized by Guru Nanak Institute of Technology and featured a variety of artistic manifestations.
The festival's program included a wide range of activities, such as the inter-institutional dance competition Mudra, the band competition Collision, the singing competition Gandhar, the theatrical competition Prangan, the recitation competition Wings of Words, and the fashion competition The Red Carpet.
EUPHONIOUSXZYZZVA 2K24 turned out to be an incredible showcase of skill, culture, and teamwork. The lively performances and exhibitions enthralled both participants and attendees, creating priceless memories and a strong sense of solidarity among all those involved.

JIS University's Dr. Dipankar Ghosh Delivers Invited Talk at International Conference

Apr 3, 2024: Dr. Dipankar Ghosh, Associate Professor and PI of the Microbial Engineering & Algal Biotechnology Laboratory (MEAB) at JIS University, Kolkata, delivered an invited talk on "Algae for Industrial Applications" at an International Conference held on March 22nd and 23rd, 2024. The conference focused on the current status of cancer and other emerging diseases, including treatment options and homa therapy. In addition to Dr. Ghosh's talk, MEAB team members Mr. Sayan Adhikary and Ms. Srijaa Sau presented scientific posters at the event. JIS University congratulates Dr. Ghosh and his MEAB research team on their achievements.

JIS University Attracts Interest from Bankura Students at Education and Career Fair

Apr 3, 2024: JIS University participated in the Education and Career Fair at Bankura, organized by Global Academy on March 21st and 22nd, 2024. The event saw JIS University alongside other leading institutions from Kolkata. The participation generated positive interest among students appearing for their 10+2 exams, specifically in JIS University's UG courses.

JIS University Faculty of Education Celebrates Basanta Utsav, the Festival of Colors

Apr 3, 2024: The Faculty of Education at JIS University celebrated Basanta Utsav, the festival of colors, on Friday, March 22nd, 2024. Students from all semesters participated in the event held at the JIS University Auditorium, showcasing cultural performances and spreading positivity. Faculty members were also present for the celebration. The event concluded with a lively rally at the JIS Ground and a group photo session.

JIS University's Faculty of Education Hosts Poster Making Competition for World Water Day

Apr 3, 2024: JIS University's Faculty of Education organized a poster making competition in pre-celebration of World Water Day (March 22nd) on March 21st, 2024. The event aimed to promote water conservation awareness among students. Students from grades 6-8 of Sinthi RBT Vidyapith (H.S) School participated in the competition held at the JIS University Auditorium. The poster topic was "Water for Peace."

JIS University Successfully Reaches Out to West Midnapore Students at MAX Career Education Fair

Apr 3, 2024: JIS University and other JIS Group colleges participated in the recent Education Fair 2024 organized by MAX Career in West Midnapore district. The fair took place across three locations: Jhargram (March 3rd), Debra (March 10th), and Chandrakonaroad (March 17th). The participation generated positive interest and enthusiasm from students who recently completed their Class 12 exams and are exploring undergraduate programs.

JIS Organises Conclave on "Entrepreneurs – Born or Made"  

March 4, 2024: Under the theme "Entrepreneurs - Born or Made," the JIS Entrepreneurship Conclave got underway at the Dhono Dhanyo Auditorium in Kolkata with a ceremonial lamp lighting led by Smt. Jaspreet Kaur, Director – JIS Group; Sardar Simarpreet Singh, Director – JIS Group; and Shri. Sunil Chandra Saha and Shri. Nitesh Singh, Co-founders of Blue Tea, as well as Prof. Dr. Soumen Banerjee, Principal of NiT, and Prof (Dr.) Swarup Kumar Mitra, Principal of GNIT. Next, Sardar Simarpreet Singh gave the welcome speech.

Blue Tea co-founders Sunil Chandra Saha and Nitesh Singh gave an enthralling presentation at the conclave, sharing their entrepreneurial journeys and the company's success story. They also had a spirited Q&A session with the excited crowd. During the occasion, their book, "Into the Tank," was released. Growfitter's founder, Shri. Sanmati Pande, and Anthyesti Funeral Services' founder, Smt. Shruthi Reddy, engaged in a thought-provoking conversation during which they discussed their routes to success.

Director, JIS Group Speaks at 3rd Edtech Summit

September 27, 2023: Speaking at the third EdTech Summit in Kolkata, which was put on by the Indian Chamber of Commerce and focused on "Shaping the Future of Education through EdTech," Sardar Simarpreet Singh, Co-Chairman of the ICC National Expert Committee on Higher Education & Training and Director of the JIS Group.

In his speech to the summit, Dr Subhas Sarkar, the Hon'ble Minister (MOS) of the Indian Government's Ministry of Education, stated, "I have noticed that the National Education Policy, together with its educational initiatives, is playing a crucial role in reforming India. Modern education's emergence has broadened our understanding and viewpoints by opening up new vistas. The National Education Policy's blending of conventional wisdom and cutting-edge information is encouraging. It is noteworthy that this policy places a strong emphasis on the value of developing young minds from an early age.

"Today, we've witnessed a convergence of great minds, a symphony of ideas, and a commitment to shaping the future of education through EdTech, the transformative potential of technology in education," said Sardar Simarpreet Singh, who delivered a speech on the occasion. It is clear that EdTech is a catalyst for change rather than just a tool. As we proceed, let's keep in mind that through our combined efforts, ingenuity, and teamwork, the road to a better future for education will be revealed. The EdTech revolution will influence future generations; it is not merely a trend. For a better and more inclusive future, we will work together to empower and reform education.

JIS Group Organises Innovative Business Plan Competition

August 10, 2023: Students from the JIS Group of Educational Initiatives pitched their business plans as part of the "Made in JIS Celeb Edition" event, which was held by the group's educational initiatives. Participants competed for prizes and support for their ventures. The JIS Group's forty participating teams from various educational institutions presented their business plans. A distinguished team of judges, including Subham Raj Sharma, Co-Founder of Webingo, Sunil Chandra Saha, CEO of Blue Tea, Dhiman Das, Director of K C Das, renowned filmmaker Pavel, and  Avelo Roy, MD of Kolkata Ventures, judged the student business concepts during the competition's finals. On this occasion, Jaspreet Kaur was also there. The judges evaluated the presentations by student entrepreneurs and assessed their business ideas, skills, and potential for success. The team from Asansol Engineering College with their innovative idea ‘E-Hastakshar” and the team from Guru Nanak Institute of Dental Sciences and Research with their “Self Locking Matrix” bagged the winning award. The contest helped to provide a unique and enriching opportunity and learning experience that will equip students with valuable skills and perspectives.

August 8, 2023: Arundhati Bhattacharya, the trailblazing former CEO of the State Bank of India (SBI), graced the prestigious The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry Leadership Lecture series with her illustrious presence in a fascinating demonstration of leadership acumen. In the distinguished presence of academic Dignitaries, including the esteemed Alapan Bandyopadhyay (former IAS officer and chief advisor to the government of WB) and Tamal Bandyopadhyay (Author & Mentor, Banking & Finance Committee, BCC&I), The JIS Group Educational Initiatives, the esteemed title sponsor of the lecture series, proudly presented their felicitations to Bhattacharya. The prestigious JIS Sardar Jodh Singh Award for Ignited Minds 2023 and a certificate were presented to Bhattacharya by the JIS Group of Educational Initiatives, the event's title sponsor, as a mark of appreciation.

JIS University Celebrates its 3rd Convocation with Remarkable Placement of Its Students in Global IT Organisations 

August 4, 2023: JIS University had its third grand convocation, a major occasion to honour the achievements of its graduating students in terms of academic brilliance and record-breaking placement in some of the largest global IT businesses. Sardar Taranjit Singh, honorary Chancellor of JIS University and Managing Director of JIS Group, officially opened the ceremony, which was held on the NIT-JIS University Campus. Prof. Arup Kumar Raychaudhuri, SERB Distinguished Fellow, Prof. Partha S. Ghosh, Professor of Practise at Tufts University in the United States, and Prof. G.L. Dutta, Professor Emeritus, IIT Kharagpur, Policy Advisor, Governing Body Member, JIS group, were among the distinguished guests in attendance. Honourable Vice-Chancellor of JIS University Prof. Bhabes Bhattacharya delivered the convocation report.

The convocation ceremony honoured students from various Departments of JIS University, including the School of Engineering, School of Management Studies, School of Pharmaceutical Technology, School of Sciences, School of Education, School of Juridical Science, School of Hospitality & Hotel Administration, and JIS Institute for Advanced Studies & Research (JISIASR). This year, a total of 1028 students were conferred Degrees and Diplomas at various levels. 693 students received their UG Degrees, 228 PG Degrees, 102 Diplomas, and 5 Ph.D. degrees. The outstanding academic performance of 40 students was recognised by conferring them with gold medals, 30 students were awarded silver medals, and 22 graduates received bronze medals for their exceptional achievements.

Aman Giri (B.Tech-CSE) received Josh Technologies' highest offer of 18 LPA, creating an excellent standard for achievement. The Honourable Chancellor of JIS University and Managing Director of the JIS Group, Sardar Taranjit Singh, gave a speech at the event and said, "At JIS University, we take enormous satisfaction in the achievements of our graduating students, who have shown amazing endurance and dedication. Despite the difficulties brought on by the post-pandemic circumstances, our students have achieved academic success and been hired by famous companies.

JIS College of Engineering Participates in 16th International Education Leadership & Skill Development Summit 2023

June 9, 2023: 16th International Education Leadership & Skill Development Summit 2023 took place in New Delhi on 26th May. JIS University and Guru Nanak Institute Of Hotel Management received the prestigious awards for the Best University in Eastern India and the Best Hotel Management Institute in Eastern India, respectively. Sardar Simarpreet Singh, Director contributed to the summit as a distinguished guest speaker. He participated in a thought-provoking panel discussion on making tech-enabled learning inclusive, qualitative, and collaborative for the education ecosystem. His valuable insights and expertise added immense value to the event.
