KSOU Highlights 2025

KSOU, Mysuru, is a state public university established in 1996. KSOU Mysore ODL courses have recently ventured into online education, offering a wide range of courses and degree programmes online. As an open university in Mysore, KSOU has its headquarters in Mysore along with 21 regional centres across the state. NIRF 2025 has ranked KSOU at the #2 spot in the "Open University" category.

MOU offers courses through 5 affiliated schools of study. The university offers UG, PG, Diploma, Certificate, PhD level programmes. KOU Mysore has 29 departments that offer UG, PG, Diploma, Certificate, and PhD courses in the domains of Food and Nutrition, Biotechnology, IT, etc. These programmes aim to deliver high-quality education, combining multimedia resources and collaborative tools to enhance the learning experience. MOU courses are recognised by UGC. These courses are also offered on the online study platform where students can engage in interactive learning experiences.

Per the UGC-DEB guidelines, Mysore Open University admission is done online twice yearly, in January and June. Established as a State Public University, Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) Mysuru was finally accomplished on June 1, 1996.
Before receiving recognition as KSOU University, it received attention as the Institute of Correspondence Courses and Continuing Education (ICC and CE).
Paved out from the University of Mysore in 1996, KSOU Mysuru is also recognised as a Centre of Higher Education under Open and Distance Learning (ODL).

Placements: There was placement assistance. The greatest advantage of this certification was that it was a great add-on to the CV. Securing the right opportunities might require some effort. This certification, especially from a reputable source like Educart, adds significant value to your CV.

Infrastructure: Our college had excellent facilities. Our course was entirely online, so there were no complications. The online infrastructure worked well without any glitches. Recorded sessions were available. As our course was online, we didn't check for facilities like hostels, food, and sports. There were no technical issues, and our classes went smoothly.

Faculty: The course curriculum was relevant. This course syllabus changed frequently, so the team must stay updated with the content. Our teachers were good, although direct interaction was limited in our course. Exams were held at the end, and an assignment must be submitted for assessment.

Placements: Students were eligible for placements from term-1. Placements were provided in our college so every student got a good opportunity to work with good companies and earn a good annual income. The recruiting companies were ICICI, HCL, and Lake. The placement committee ensures that every student gets placed with respectable salary packages. I have planned to pursue master's degree from Karnataka University to work in the field of operation.

Infrastructure: Hostel facilities were available, and the rooms were good and well-ventilated. The hostel provided a healthy lifestyle for students. Students must pay an amount of Rs.3,000 of which the hostel fee was Rs.1000 and Rs.2,000 was a depository refundable amount. The hostel room had beds, chairs, fans, study tables, cupboards, etc. Wi-Fi was provided in the hostel.

Faculty: The subjects I learned in this college were very good and impressive to learn new things about management skills and leadership quality. Subjects in our course were different every year. I learned the basics of management economy, finance, and human resources management. The faculty and student ratio was 1:30. Faculty members were highly accomplished in their respective fields, kind, and helpful. Some of the faculty members were very good.

Other: Each classroom was sufficient for 40 students. Our course fee was Rs.18,500 per year.

Our college has very good placements.

Placements: It is a college in Yelahanka new town Bengaluru. They offer many airlines for our training since it is near to Kempe Gowda International airport Bengaluru as we can travel easily for our training. There are two aircraft in our college campus.

Infrastructure: There is Wi-Fi on campus and a very good library. Importance is given to our fitness and games. The hostel is too good and our seniors are very friendly. The labs in this college are very well and the infrastructure is too good and food too.

Faculty: Our teachers are very helpful, they are qualified by DGCA and they have a good knowledge about this course. They build up our future and they motivate us. The passing percentage is 75 percent and the course is a little difficult. Our teachers make it very easy and understandable.

Infrastructure: Wi-Fi, labs, and facilities are good in our college. Food served is good and the hostel provides facilities like water, canteen, and play area to play games after class hours. Our college will help students to improve their skills.

Faculty: Faculty members in our college are helpful in teaching new things and skills. The course curriculum is relevant to the aviation sector and management studies. There are 6 semester exams at our degree level. The pass percentage is more than 60%.

Other: I chose this course because it is a very interesting course and it helps to learn things more accurately about the aviation industry. Our college should provide textbooks about the subjects. Events are planned according to the college. There are around 40 students in each class.

I am satisfied with the infrastructure and faculty.

Placements: The highest package ranges from 7.5LPA to 10 LPA, depending on our papers and how many modules we have cleared. Air work, GMR, and Air India are the roles offered in some manual companies. Technicians, engineers, etc. roles are offered and the posts depend on how many modules we have cleared.

Infrastructure: Wi-Fi, labs, classroom, library, etc. are available. Teaching quality is good and all the instructors are well qualified. There is a great canteen and the food is good too. We used to play cricket, football, volleyball, tennis, etc. in the playground. They used to conduct tournaments occasionally.

Faculty: Our teachers are well qualified and knowledgeable. Their quality is also good. If you clear papers then it is the best industry to work at. Semester exams are quite easy if you study and the pass percentage is 90%. The exams will be conducted with MCQs.

Other: I chose this course in order to gain knowledge about aircraft DGCA modules.

Placements: Around 60% of students were placed in this course. One must have a minimum of 60% to get placed. Companies are Indigo, Airworks, Deccan and Go First come here.

Infrastructure: The hostel rooms are very small, and the food is hygienic, but the taste is not good. There are no medical facilities.

Faculty: The teachers are highly knowledgeable, and they are from the Indian Army and other airline companies. Aircraft maintenance engineering is a very tough course, and we have to work for at least 6 to 7 years get well-settled. College exams are easy, but DGCA is hard.

Other: AME is very tough to study. There aren't any activities.

KSOU Courses and Fees 2025

Currently, Karnataka State Open University comprises nearly 5 schools and 25+ departments of study offering over 420 courses with a wide range of specialisations. These courses are offered in various streams such as Arts, Technology, Management, Science, etc. at UG, PG, and Doctoral levels. KSOU Mysore courses include BA (Hons), BSc, and BTech, among others.

Whereas, KSOU Mysore offers MA, MSc, MTech and MBA courses at the PG level. It also offers several PhD and integrated programmes.
