DSNLU Cutoff 2025 (Out): Check CLAT Round Wise Ranks

Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University, Visakhapatnam CLAT cutoff 2024 has been released by the Consortium of National Law Universities (CNLU) for admissions to the LLM course. The cutoffs were released for the opening and closing rounds.

Yes, DSNLU conducts an entrance-exam to shortlist candidates for PhD programme. The test includes objective and descriptive questions to analyse the research and legal aptitude of the aspirants. The entrance-exam has Legal Research Methodology, Jurisprudence,  Constitutional Law, IPC, Law of Torts, Contracts Laws, Family Law and Transfer of Property and labor Laws.

Yes, NLU Visakhapatnam have seats reserved for candidates belonging to SC/ST category. A relaxation of 5% is also given to these candidates in eligibility requirements. To get admission in a reserved seat, candidates are required to submit the category certificate issued by a authorised body.

Regarding the CLAT cutoffs for the previous three years, there has been an upward trend in the DSNLU cutoff 2023 for the UG course, B.A. LL.B. (Hons.). The BA LLB DSNLU cutoff for 2023 closed at 2080, while the 2022 and 2021 cutoffs were 1589 and 1473, respectively. In 2023, the DSNLU cutoff rank for the PG course LL.M. in Criminal Law was 2583; in 2022, it was 1637; and in 2021, it was 1134. Over the past three years, DSNLU has seen an increase in the number of LLM in Criminal Law programs. Applicants who want to be admitted to DSNLU's LLB and LLM programs in 2024 must take the CLAT.

CNLU offers CLAT counseling to applicants who want to be admitted to law programs. Those who pass the CLAT exam are invited to the CLAT Counseling. The University grants an LL.M. in one year. The Monsoon Semester (July–November) and the Spring Semester (January–May) comprise of the two semesters of the academic year.

The university will conduct a screening exam, group discussion, and interview to select students for this specific degree program. There are 60 seats available for the dual degree, 10 of which have been put aside for international students. The remaining seats are distributed in accordance with Andhra Pradesh government regulations.

Selection Standards for the LL.M. programme at Andhra Pradesh's Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University:

• LL.B. or any other comparable degree with 50% (SC/ST) or 55% (Unreserved/OBC/SAP) from an accredited university.
• Applicants who are scheduled to take their qualifying exam in March or April are also eligible to apply, as long as they bring the necessary documentation with them when they check in.

DSNLU Application Process 2024:

1. Offline admission will be done for all courses. The CLAT website is where candidates must register for the BA-LLB (Hons) and  LLM programs. For PhD, candidates can directly apply through the university website
2. Applicants who meet the requirements must download the application from the university website.
3. To finish the application process, pay the application fee via DD.
4. The eligible candidates' merit list will be made public.
5. To finish the process, eligible candidates must go through document verification.

Yes, DSNLU accepts CLAT score for admission to BA LLB (Hons) course. As per the DSNLU cutoff 2024, the closing rank for BA LLB (Hons) Round-1 and last round was 1233 and 1390, respectively. The rank improved from 2080 in 2023 to 1390 in 2024. Candidates must score well in CLAT to get a seat in the university. One must also fulfil the eligibility criteria for BA LLB (Hons) for admission. 

Candidates applying for a course need to fulfil the eligibility criteria stated by the university. The basic eligibility is Class 12 for UG courses whereas, graduation is required for PG programmes. Below is course-wise eligibility for DSNLU:

For BA LLB Hons General - opening rank is AIR 1002 and closing rank is AIR1797. 

For General - Home State Quota the opening rank is AIR 1873 and closing rank is AIR 6171.

The university conducts admissions through the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), and the cut off for CLAT is determined by the Consortium of National Law Universities. 

Candidates need to pass a master’s degree in Law /LLM/ Social Sciences like MA, MCom, MBA or natural sciences like MSc, M.Tech for interdisciplinary research (from any recognised university or its equivalent with at least 55% aggregate (50% aggregate for SC/ ST/ BC/ Specially Abled and other categories) to apply for DSNLU PhD programme.

DSNLU offers PhD in full-time and part-time for three-years. The maximum duration to complete full-time PhD is four-years. Candidates applying for part-time need to complete the course maximum by six-years. In case, if the research is not completed within the maximum period of course for reason, the Research Scholar may be permitted for re-registration for another four years or six years as the case may be for extension of time for on the recommendations of the DRC with Full-time INR 30,000 for part-time and Executive INR 50,000.

Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University, Andhra Pradesh offers admission to BA LLB (Hons) and LLM courses based on CLAT score. CLAT is a national-level entrance-exam conducted by The Consortium of National Law Universities in pen and paper mode. The selection for PhD is based on entrance-exam conducted by the university.
