CLAT cutoff 2023 - The Consortium of NLUs has released the round-wise CLAT cutoff for the 23 participating NLUs with each round of counselling. CLAT 2023 cut-off is released separately for the UG and PG courses, as well as for each category (Open, PwD, SC, ST, OBC). The CLAT cut off is the minimum score/rank for which a candidate is offered admission; so, those scoring marks or ranks below the cutoff would typically not get admission in their preferred law colleges. Factors like difficulty level of exam, change in seat intake and matrix, anwer key discrepancies, and total candidates shotlisted affect the CLAT cut off every year. The 23 NLUs that participate in CLAT counselling offer a combined 3, 213 seats for the UG courses, and 1, 217 seats for the PG course. Candidates can check the cut off for CLAT 2023, as well as, for previous years on the page below.

Factors Affecting CLAT Cutoffs
Every year, the cut off marks for the CLAT exam are affected due to the following factors:
-
The difficulty level of the exam - If the question paper is easy then the cut off is expected to go high and vice-versa
-
Total applications received - If the total applications received is less then the cut off is expected to be relaxed
-
Total candidates qualifying CLAT exam - If the total number of qualifying candidates is less than the total seats then cut off goes low
-
Total number of seats - If the total number of seats is revised and increased then cut off is expected to remain low
-
Previous year cut offs - For the top NLUs, the cut-off marks in previous years were high, therefore, only topper candidates could make it for final admissions. Fore other NLUs, the cut off marks are relatively low.
Now, these are the key reasons that have affected the CLAT cut off marks/ranks in the past and are will play a major role this year as well.

The minimum eligibility criteria for CLAT is that the candidate must have passed the 10+2 or an equivalent examination with at least 45% marks (or an equivalent grade for SC/ST candidates). However, many top law schools have higher cut-off marks, which means that a good score in 12th is important to have a chance of getting admission into a good law school. Moreover, some law schools also take into account the candidate's 12th marks in the final selection process. For instance, the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) in Bangalore gives 25% weightage to the 12th standard marks in the final selection process. Therefore, it is important to have a good score in 12th to improve the chances of getting admission into a good law school through CLAT. However, it's important to note that the CLAT entrance exam is the primary basis for admission to law schools and carries the most weightage in the selection process. So, while 12th results do matter, a good performance in CLAT is the most important factor in securing admission to a good law school. Please upvote if it was helpful.

Both exams have a different pattern and syllabus, and the level of difficulty varies for each candidate. AILET is conducted by the National Law University (NLU), Delhi, and focuses primarily on legal aptitude and reasoning skills. The exam pattern includes 150 multiple-choice questions from various subjects such as General Knowledge, English Legal Aptitude & Reasoning and Mathematics. The level of difficulty can be considered high due to the nature of the questions and the time limit provided. On the other hand, CLAT is conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities and includes 200 multiple-choice questions from various subjects such as English Mathematics, Logical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning and General Knowledge. The level of difficulty can also be considered high, and the competition is tough due to a large number of applicants. In conclusion, both exams are challenging and require rigorous preparation. The level of difficulty may vary for each candidate, and it is best to assess your strengths and weaknesses to determine which exam may be more suitable for you.
CLAT offers a total of 2200 seats and almost 80,000 people take the exam in a year. Whereas AILET offers about 110 seats and almost 20,000 people take the exam. Whereas AILET offers about 110 seats and almost 20,000 people take the exam. If we go by Statistics you have a better chance at cracking CLAT than AILET. Moreover, the recent trend has shown that AILET has more questions on static GK than Current Affairs unlike CLAT. If a comparative analysis is drawn between the two exams, it is observed that AILET asks trickier and more technical questions than CLAT.

While a rank of 8000 in CLAT 2023 is decent, the competition for admission to NLUs is usually high, and it ultimately depends on the number of available seats, the number of applicants, and the preference of candidates. However, having OBC category rank of 1150 can increase your chances of admission as many NLUs reserve seats for OBC candidates. As the exact number of seats reserved for OBC candidates may vary from one NLU to another, it's difficult to predict your chances of admission without knowing the specific details of each NLU. It's important to keep an eye on the official websites of the NLUs for updates regarding the counseling process, seat allotment, and other important information. During the counseling process, you will be required to give your preference for the NLUs, and the final admission will depend on your rank and the availability of seats in your preferred NLU.
