PU CET UG 2025 exam pattern consists of various types of questions asked in the examination. Along with the exam pattern, candidates must also go through the marking scheme and shift timings allocated by the examination conducting body of the examination.

Mostly, the exam pattern remains the same every year. Applicants who have begun their PU CET UG 2025 exam preparation need to be aware that completing the syllabus will not guarantee a high score. PU CET UG 2025 exam pattern is such that candidates need to attempt 60 MCQ (Multiple choice questions) in one subject, which the exam authority will ask from the mentioned PU CET UG Syllabus 2025 in 70 70-minute duration. The PU CET UG exam pattern is as follows:

  • Mode of exam: Computer-based test (CBT)
  • Language of exam: English
  • Number of sections: 4 (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology)
  • Number of questions per section: 60
  • Type of questions: Multiple-choice questions
  • Duration per section: 70 minutes
  • Total marks: 120 marks per section
  • Marking scheme: 2 marks for each correct answer, 0.5 marks deducted for each incorrect answer
  • Negative marking: Yes

Candidates can choose the subjects they want to take depending on the course they have applied for. For example, if a candidate has applied for the BSc (PCM) course, they will need to take the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics sections of the exam.

Q:   What is the format of the PU CET (UG) exam, and what types of questions can candidates expect?
A: 

Depending on the program they have registered for, candidates can choose the subjects they want to take. 

Each section of the exam consists of 60 multiple choice questions. Each section must be completed in 70 minutes. There is negative marking for incorrect answers, and each wrong answer will result in a deduction of 0.5 marks. 

The types of questions asked in the PU CET UG exam are based on the syllabuses of the subjects concerned for Class 12. The questions are to test the candidate's understanding of the basic concepts and principles of the subject.

  • The medium of examination shall be English only
  • The candidates shall be required to answer questions on the OMR Answer-Sheet
  • The exam shall comprise 4 papers, each of 70 minutes duration
  • 2 marks are allotted to each question
  • Each question paper shall consist of 60 questions
  • Every paper will be of 120 marks
  • There shall be negative marking, i.e., 25 per cent marks will be deducted for wrong answers
  • 20 minutes extra will be given to the visually handicapped/ Person with Disability (PwD) for each paper
  • The Test will be conducted in the subjects of (i) Physics, (ii) Chemistry (iii) Biology (iv) Mathematics

PU CET UG 2025 Important Instrucions

Candidates can check out the important instructions related to PU CET UG 2025 exam from here:

  • The candidates shall be required to answer questions on the OMR Answer-Sheet, strictly following all the rules/ norms as stated on the Question Booklet and the Answer-sheet and in Appendix E (Page- 49).
  • The candidates shall be required to hand-over both the Question Booklet and OMR Answer-Sheet to the Invigilator when the time allotted to each paper is over. No candidate shall be allowed to leave the examination hall before the expiry of the time allotted for the examination.
  • No page/part of the Question paper/OMR Answer-Sheet is to be removed/torn/taken out of the Examination Centre under any circumstances, failing which the candidates shall be straight away disqualified for the entire Entrance Test.
  • The use of calculator is not allowed in any subject/paper.
  • The University will provide logarithmic table. Borrowing or carrying of log table or other material is not allowed.
  • Rough work, if any, is to be done only in the space provided in the question booklet and nowhere else. No rough work shall be done on the OMR Answer-sheet under any circumstances, failing which the same shall
    be cancelled.
