Bachelor of Optometry (B.Optom.) - Batch of 2027
4.8
In 2025, good placement, really good infrastructure, and facilities are available.
Placements: About 75% of students get placed in the course. The package is Rs 23,000 per month to Rs 45,000 per month. Recruiting companies are Lenskart, Titan Eye Care, AIMS, Eye 7, and CL Gupta. 90% of students got internships. Top roles offered are optometrist, ophthalmic assistant, vision therapist, optical sales consultant, etc. It also provides international opportunities.
Infrastructure: All facilities are good. Infrastructure is also available. Every day 2 hour lab is compulsory. Classrooms are neat and clean. All books are available in library. Everything is available in hostel and students enjoy like home. Every day different type of food is served.
Faculty: Teachers are very knowledgeable and easily explain every topic. Teachers quality is outstanding. Teachers treat every student like their brother or sister. Curriculum makes students ready for the industry. Semester exams are not difficult. Pass percentage is 4.5 SGPA, and mostly students pass.
Other: I chose optometry because it combines my passion for healthcare with a deep interest in vision and how the eye works. My family member struggled with a vision problem that went undiagnosed for year, and it made me realise how essential vision is to daily life. It strengthens clinical training, updates the curriculum, focuses soft skills and entrepreneurship, and more industry and international exposure. Every week, events are organised and students enjoy and participate. Every event and fest is organised every year. Students are participating in a stroll activity, dance, etc. Campus is very good and every student is living in group and having fun. Scholarships are mostly awarded to students arrived, and every student is involved in an activity.

TMU - Growing hub for professional education.
Placements: Around 70-80% of the students from the bachelor of optometry program are successfully placed through campus or off-campus recruitment drives. The highest package to the lowest package is 1.8 LPA - 6 LPA. Some of the well-known recruiters included Dr. Agarwal Eye Hospital Lenskart, Eye-Q Super Specialty Eye Hospital, and Apollo Hospital. Nearly 90-95% of students secured internships as part of their final year clinical training. Graduates are offered roles such as clinical optometrist, refractionist, vision therapist, optical store manager, and low vision specialist.
Infrastructure: There is well-structured, professional description of the facilities and infrastructure for the bachelor of optometry course at Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU), Moradabad including department and hostel amenities. Hostel facilities are decent and secure. Rooms are shared and are provided with basic furniture. Regular cleaning is done, but cleanliness may depend on individual blocks. The mess offers a variety of vegetarian meals, while food is hygienic.
Faculty: Faculty members in the Optometry department are generally well-qualified and knowledgeable in their respective areas. Teachers are approachable and helpful, especially during practical sessions, clinical postings, and exam preparation. The curriculum is fairly updated and aligned with industry standards. Semester exams are moderately challenging, they test both theoretical understanding and clinical knowledge. Students who attend classes regularly and practice well in labs usually find the exams manageable. Pass percentage typically ranges from 85% to 95% depending on the batch and subject.
Other: I chose optometry because I had a strong interest in eye care, vision science, and healthcare services. It could be improved like advanced equipment, more workshops, soft skills, counseling, and campus crowd.

Well-rounded optometry experience at TMU with good academic and career support.
Placements: The placement cell is supportive, but I'd recommend students be proactive as well; building skills, attending workshops, and applying for internships on their own help a lot. Overall, the opportunities are there, and if you are focused and serious, TMU can help you get a good start in your career as an optometrist.
Infrastructure: The university has good infrastructure with well-equipped labs, modern classrooms, and a dedicated eye hospital for clinical training. The campus is clean and student-friendly. Hostel facilities are decent, with clean rooms, good food, and proper security. There are common study areas, recreational rooms, and medical support available for students.
Faculty: Teachers are supportive and knowledgeable, and they focus on both theory and clinical skills. Exams are held regularly and are fair. The faculty makes sure we understand the theoretical concept clearly using examples, visuals, and interactive teaching methods. Practical sessions are handled with care.
Other: The university also organizes cultural, academic, and sports events regularly.

It is the best place if students want to study and achieve success in their lives.
Placements: About 80% of students are successfully placed in hospitals and institutes. The further services will stop here. The package offered by my university ranges from 4- 50 LPA. Roles offered by my university are clinical optometrists, therapists, and paramedical doctors.
Infrastructure: There are good labs, classrooms, and a library for better studies. The hostel facilities are good. Good food is available in the canteen and mess. There are better sports facilities in my hostel and at the university too. Facilities provided by the university are much better. Some sports facilities are very relaxing for our minds.
Faculty: Good faculty members are available in my college, but the optometry faculty is more supportive. Faculty members in the college for this course are better suited to our career options. Some semesters are quite difficult, but in the medical profession, it is normal.
Other: I chose this course to serve our country as a medical professional. I think projector classrooms and medical camps should be improved in my college.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure is top-notch with smart classrooms, modern labs, and a digital library. Hostels are well-maintained, Wi-Fi-enabled, and offer hygienic food. Common rooms and study spaces create a student-friendly environment for both living and learning.
Faculty: Faculty members are knowledgeable, cooperative, and make learning easy with practical insights. The curriculum is updated, industry-relevant, and focuses on skill development. Exams are fair, well-planned, and test real understanding, not just written learning.

Strong academics, good scope.
Placements: Optometry offers strong placement prospects, with 70–85% of students typically placed after graduation. The highest package ranges from ₹6–8 LPA, while the average is ₹3.5–4.5 LPA. Top recruiters include L. V. Prasad Eye Institute, Dr. Agarwal's Eye Hospital, Lenskart, Titan Eye+, and Vision Express. About 90–100% of students secure internships in hospitals, clinics, or optical retail chains. Popular roles include clinical optometrist, vision therapist, contact lens specialist, and low vision consultant. With the rising demand for eye care professionals in India, Optometry provides stable job opportunities in clinical, retail, and research sectors..
Infrastructure: Optometry department offers well-equipped labs, including refraction, low vision, contact lens, and dispensing labs. Classrooms are smart, air-conditioned, and Wi-Fi enabled. A central library provides access to textbooks, journals, and digital resources. Hostels have clean rooms, 24/7 water and electricity, and Wi-Fi. The mess and canteen serve hygienic, decent-quality food with both veg and non-veg options. Medical facilities include an on-campus clinic and tie-ups with hospitals. The campus has sports grounds, indoor games, and gym facilities, promoting student wellness. Overall, the infrastructure is student-friendly, modern, and supports both academic and personal growth for Optometry students.
Faculty: Teachers in the Optometry course are highly qualified, supportive, and experienced, often including practicing optometrists and guest faculty from reputed hospitals. Teaching quality is excellent, with a focus on practical skills, clinical exposure, and updated knowledge. The curriculum is industry-relevant, covering core areas like refraction, optics, pathology, and contact lenses, ensuring students are job-ready. Semester exams are moderately difficult, testing both theory and clinical application. Regular assessments and practicals help in better preparation. The pass percentage is high, generally around 85–95%, as students receive good academic support and hands-on training throughout the course.
Other: Our Optometry batch had a mix of passionate students from diverse backgrounds. I chose this course due to my interest in eye care and healthcare service, and its growing career scope. The best parts are clinical exposure, practical learning, and opportunities in hospitals and optical retail. Improvements can be made in research exposure and access to more advanced equipment. The campus hosts fests, cultural events, and academic seminars regularly. The crowd is friendly and focused. Good connectivity, scholarships, and a peaceful campus environment add value. Extracurricular activities and clubs promote overall personality development alongside academics.

Good faculty members and infrastructure, but placements need improvement.
Placements: Some courses, particularly those in high-demand fields or at top-tier institutions, might see placement rates of 99% or higher. The average salary for optometry graduates in India typically ranges from 2 LPA to 7 LPA. The highest package was 10 LPA or more for experienced professionals, and entry-level positions often started around 2 LPA - 4 LPA. Optometry programs, a high percentage of students, often around 90% to 100%, secure internships. These internships were typically in hospitals and optical stores, with some top companies like Lenskart, Essilor, and Vision Express offering placements.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi was not available for students. Lab was not open properly, not recommended for library. Books were not available in the library. Classrooms were good. They provided good education. Quality of the canteen, sports, and games was normal. Medical facilities were good.
Faculty: Teachers were good. They helped me in our situation related to study and other problems. They were very knowledgeable and shared our knowledge in classroom. Semester exams in college were not difficult. Exam was task for the students. Passing percentage of the semester exam was approximately 3.5 SGP.
Other: I chose this course because my father suggested this course. This field was related to eye care, where you could help improve people's vision. It was a profession where you could not only diagnose and treat eye diseases, but also help people see better and improve their quality of life.
