Calicut University offers admission to different undergraduate and postgraduate level courses available in the disciplines of Management, Science, Arts, and Commerce, and many others.

For most of the courses, the university conducts an entrance exam and releases rank lists for the shortlisted candidates. All the colleges affiliated to Calicut University accepts the provisional rank list scores for admission to the respective course. The admissions to Calicut University are based on a Merit List prepared by the University basis on the candidate's entrance exam score.

Calicut University participates in the Central Sector Scholarship Scheme for College and University Students, which is administered by the MHRD. This scholarship provides financial assistance to students in need to cover tuition, maintenance and other expenses. Eligibility includes enrolling in a full-time UG or PG course with a minimum of 55% marks in the previous examination. Applications are done online through the MHRD website and the university also has a scholarship cell to help students with the process and other scholarships.

Admissions for Calicut University are held open based on the calendars of the respective academic period and programme schedule. Normally, UG and PG course applications open in May and June, and admission for professional courses depends upon entrance exam results. The applicant may visit the university's website regularly for updates. Admission procedure is online, and due dates, such as application closing date, are intimated before the date.
