Kalyani University admissions are both merit and entrance-based for respective UG and PG courses. For a few UG courses such as B.Ed, BSc, MA, etc., admissions are offered based on candidates' merit scores obtained in their previous qualifying exam. Further, to get admission to courses such as BTech, MTech, MBA, etc., candidates have to qualify for state/ national-level entrance exams. As per the admission process, candidates also have to appear for other selection rounds such as Group Discussion and Personal Interview rounds for the respective courses. Kalyani University admission to most of the courses are offered via scores of various state/ national-level entrance exams. However, the university does not conduct any entrance exams on its own, but it accepts a few state/ national-level entrances conducted by West Bengal state. These include WBJEE, WB JECA, WB JEMAT, CAT, MAT, GATE, etc., for admission to BTech, MCA, MBA and M.Tech programmes. For courses such as BCom, BA, BSc, MA, etc., direct admissions are offered to candidates based on their scores obtained in the previous qualifying exam.
