Q: Is there a cutoff for Common Admission Test (CAT) or Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT)?

A: There is no set cut-off, it changes every year based on the pool of applications. MICA doesn't have any CAT/XAT/GMAT cut-off because it’s relative to the applications we receive every year, which changes. Therefore, along with the scores in these entrance exams, students must focus on MICAT 2. This is where a student needs to score well to compensate for a low CAT/XAT score. There are sectional cutoffs in MICAT for the multiple-choice questions (MCQ) section.

Q: What is scope for a Marketing graduate?

A: A student, who has completed their graduation with a specialisation in Marketing, can study Postgraduation Diploma in Management in Communication (PGDM-C) with a specialisation in strategic marketing and communications.

Q: Where can the aspirants find past year’s MICAT papers?

A: MICAT papers have been shared on MICA's website and on a Facebook group called MICA Official Discussion Group 2019. Apart from MCQs, there are two parts under the descriptive section – opinion-based and creative writing.

Q: What are some of the key preparation tips for MICAT entrance exam?

A: For basic aptitude consisting of Quant, Verbal, DI & LR, GK and divergent and convergent thinking, prepare just the way you prepared for other entrance exams such as CAT/XAT/GMAT.

For descriptive section’s first part you need to read newspapers regularly. For the story writing part, take four random pictures daily and try to weave a story around it. The story can be as creative as you can imagine. There is no need to use jargon and fancy words, the story has to be logical and coherent as a whole.

For psychometric section, you just need to clear with your thoughts and read the instructions properly before attempting.

Q: What are the job opportunities after the programme?

A: We get recruiters from the media and entertainment industry that come during the placement drive to offer management positions in their organisations.
