Lovely Professional University Result 2020: Semester, Evaluation, Revaluation

Lovely Professional University (LPU) offers over 300 degree, diploma and certificate programmes to aspirants at the UG and PG levels. All the programmes offered by this University are divided into two semesters per year - even and odd. LPU also provides distance education facility. The result of all the exams under the regular and distance education mode are uploaded on its official website.

The even semester exams generally take place in the month of May. For the even semester, practical exams start from the 1st week of May and the theoretical exams start from the 2nd week of May. All these exams are completed within the same month while for some courses, the time duration might also stretch until the end of May. It all depends on the time frame that is mentioned in the academic calendar of the students (course-wise), available on University Management Software (UMS).

In order to get their semester results, candidates must visit the official website of the University once the result is out. The ‘result’ tab becomes available on the University only when the result is out.

LPU Semester Result Evaluation

“To facilitate smoother evaluation and hassle-free assessment, Lovely Professional University has built a UMS, which could be accessed both by the faculty and the students”, mentions Prof. Amit Sharma from LPU. This software acts as an effective interface between students and the faculty as well as the management. It is widely used by the University for multiple functionalities but for semester results, it publishes the marks obtained by students along with the evaluated answer sheets so that they can raise a dispute for revaluation in case of any discrepancies

LPU Evaluation Process 2020

Evaluation is a pre-defined step-by-step process followed by the University wherein, the answer sheets are evaluated by two to three faculty members on a division basis. The marks are then punched on the UMS and are visible to the students before scrutiny. If the students aren’t satisfied with the evaluation, they can raise the dispute and sheets are re-evaluated and posted on the UMS.

Result Calculation Process

Step 1: The students are given zero to five marks for attendance as per the below-mentioned scheme:

Step 2: The term-end exams at Lovely Professional University are of 70 marks i.e. 20 marks for MCQ and 50 marks for the subjective test. This whole calculation is converted out of 50.

Step 3: The students have mid-terms exams as MCQ tests of 40 marks which is converted out of 20.

Step 4: It is followed by three continuous assessments of 30 marks each and the best two are taken into consideration. This is converted out of 25.

Important points to remember:

• A student needs to score an overall score of 41 out of 100 to pass in that subject and also needs to get 21 out of 70 in end term exams
• Both these criteria should be satisfied to pass in a particular subject
• Also, a student needs to maintain 75% attendance throughout the semester to sit in the examination
• A student must be pass in half of the total subjects to get promoted to the next semester. If there are eight subjects then he/she must be pass in four to get to the next semester.

LPU Revaluation Process 2020

At LPU, every student is entitled to scrutinize his/her evaluated answer book. In case, a student feels unsatisfied with the evaluation, he/she can apply for revaluation of the answer booklet. After 15 days of result declaration, the Division of Examination publishes an online notification through the UMS about the steps and deadlines to apply for re-evaluation of answer copies. Each student is required to pay a requisite fee for revaluation as prescribed by the University from time to time.

• Re-evaluation is allowed only for courses of all bachelors and postgraduate programmes
• Student seeking revaluation must do it via online mode only through the link provided in student UMS accounts
• The timelines will be strict as decided by the University
• The revaluation fee will not be refunded under any circumstances
• Re-evaluation process is done in a completely confidential manner i.e. out of a team of two re-evaluators (without them knowing each other)
• Nearest average marks awarded in original and revaluation shall be considered as final marks scored by the student

The score determined after revaluation is compared with the original scores and in case of changes, the following procedure is followed:

1. If the difference in marks scored after revaluation and original marks is more than 15% of original marks, marks obtained after revaluation are considered final
2. In case, the difference between marks scored after revaluation and original marks is less than 15% of original marks, the original marks obtained by a student are considered final

Once the revaluation process is over, the chief examiner’s verdict is considered as final and no further disputes can be raised thereon. Check detailed revaluation policy issued by the University here
