MP Rajya Sabha & LPU Chancellor, Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal Provides Insightful Observations on the Budget-2024

LPU Jalandhar

February 2, 2024:MP Rajya Sabha and Chancellor of Lovely Professional University (LPU), Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal, have shared insightful observations on the recently unveiled government Budget-2024. Dr Mittal commends the Finance Minister's focus on the crucial role of research and innovation in fostering growth, employment, and overall development, as highlighted during the parliamentary session. Dr Mittal emphasizes Prime Minister Narendra Modi's evolution of the national slogan "Jai Jawan Jai Kisan," initially coined by Prime Minister Shastri, expanded by Prime Minister Vajpayee as "Jai Jawan Jai Kisan Jai Vigyan," and further augmented by PM Modi to include 'Jai Jawan Jai Kisan Jai Vigyan and Jai Anusandhan.' This ethos was exemplified by PM Modi during his address at the Indian Science Congress held at Lovely Professional University (LPU) on January 3, 2019.

However, Dr Mittal provides a broader perspective, noting that the middle class had anticipated more from this budget. The absence of income tax relief and the lack of significant announcements for the farm sector have resulted in a perception of disappointment. Despite an 11.1% increase in the budget for FY25 capital expenditure allocation, amounting to Rs 11.11 lakh crore, it falls short of expectations, especially when compared to the substantial 37.4% increase in capital expenditure in the previous budget. Moreover, Dr Mittal expresses concern about the 13% reduction in the allocation for fertilizer subsidy to ?1.64 lakh crore for 2024-25, as opposed to the revised budget estimate of INR 1.89 lakh crore for FY24. This reduction raises specific concerns for the farming community.

Please don't join this college, especially for this course.

Placements: There were no placements offered in Psychology courses at our college. They will offer roles such as HR or positions in any other sector that is not related to Psychology. To find a job related to Psychology, we need to find it on our own. Best option is to secure internships and gain OJT. We can't expect college could provide a job relevant to our course.
