LU departments to be ranked on Swachh Bharat contribution

The 43 departments of Lucknow University will be ranked on the basis of their contribution to the Swachhta mission. Apart from this, the departments shall also be judged on the overall academic performance from the new academic session. In order to secure a good score, it is important for the department to fulfill the cleanliness parameter. Departments that fail to do so will be marked as 'failed' in the report card.

The ranking of each department will be uploaded on the official website wherein it will be declared whether the department has scored good or bad. The scores will be analysed and awarded on the basis of the department's performance. The final decision shall be taken by a committee headed by the vice-chancellor S P Singh.

S P Singh told a leading daily, "The report card of every department will be a mirror for every faculty. The department will get to know where they stand in terms of academic excellence, cleanliness and hygiene, job placement and teaching. It will also create a healthy competition not only between students of different departments but also among heads and teaching faculty of the department."

  • Academic excellence
  • Attendance
  • Job placement
  • Number of courses closed due to poor performance
  • Research
  • Co-curricular activity participation
  • Optimum use of innovation and technology in the classroom

To ensure the cleanliness of the department, members will be required to penalise defaulters for littering the campus. The top five departments will be featured on the University’s website under the head of ‘top performers’. Along with this, the department’s achievement and the total marks attained will also be highlighted.

From next year onwards, candidates applying for admission to the University will have an access to the complete ranking and report card of the respective department he/she is willing to apply to.
