The University will begin the semester examination in offline mode on January 20. The University of Madras is planning to keep the evaluation process more liberal without changing the question paper pattern

With an aim to make it easier for the students appearing in the semester exams in the physical mode after a gap of almost 18 months, the University of Madras has decided to have familiar and direct questions. The University will begin the semester examination in offline mode on January 20. Earlier, Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister K Ponmudi announced that all the exams in the engineering, arts and science colleges and polytechnics across the state have been postponed after students protests.

As per the reports, the University of Madras is planning to keep the evaluation process more liberal without changing the question paper pattern.

Earlier, the University had planned to conduct the semester exams from the first week of December and for first-year students after the Pongal holidays. However, now the varsity will be conducting the exams for all the students, including those in the first year, after January 20.

Engineering colleges are also planning to conduct physical classes and hold model exams before the start of the semester exams.

Autonomous institutions have nearly completed the syllabus and are planning to hold physical classes and revise the topics in the next few weeks.

D G Vaishnav College has planned things over the next two months to prepare students for the exams. "The classes have been conducted in a blended mode this semester. So, we will invite all students to physical classes and prepare them for offline mode exams by giving question banks, previous year papers," said principal S Santhosh Baboo, told TOI.
